We headed up to Utah the day after Ella's baptism because it was spring break. We had a nice long week to spend up there.
It didn't start out so smoothly though. Tyler and I both needed to be at church so we left as soon as church was out. It wouldn't get a us to Utah too late. Right? Wrong! As soon as we got on the freeway traffic came to a stand still. Everyone in Vegas was leaving too and there was some construction that narrowed us down to one lane. We got to one point where the speed kind of picked up but then slowed back down. The person behind us wasn't paying attention and didn't leave enough time to stop so they ended up smashing into the back of our car. Luckily it was still drivable. We finally made it to Utah late Sunday night after nine hours of driving. It should only take six. That didn't ruin our vacation though.
My mom has wanted pet rats for a long time and she finally got some. Gabby thought it was fun to hold them.
It loved climbing up into Gabby's hair.
We took one of our days and spent it Downtown to visit temple square. We hopped on Trax. Roman thought that was so fun.
Finally visited City Creek Mall.
My grandma is a missionary at the church office building, where my dad also works, so we stopped in to say hi to both of them. She gave us a tour and took us up to the top. It's always so cool to go up there and look out across the valley for as far as you can see.
The tabernacle. Such a cool building. It's crazy to think that this is where conference was held for so many years. I remember going to a few region conferences there. Those seats are not comfy.
We went to the zoo with the Gardner cousins.
We were supposed to go home that Saturday so that we could be home for Easter on Sunday. Roman got really sick Friday night and I got zero sleep and really did not want to sit in a car so I talked Tyler into staying. So all the Schippers' got together and dyed some eggs and had a great time.
The kids got new jammies from Oma and Opa. These two were cute with their matching ones.
We woke up Sunday morning, looked at our Easter baskets, packed up and headed home. Good thing we brought our baskets with us.
We finally made it home. Remember how Roman was sick. The day after we got home he just wasn't any better and his breathing was very labored. I took him in and they found that his pulse ox levels were lower than they should be. They gave him some breathing treatment and some oxygen and it still wasn't great so they sent us over to the ER. By the time we got there and they checked him he was at a good level. They did some chest x-rays there and told us he was just fine and just had an upper respiratory infection.
He was really happy when they gave him the popsicle.
