Bradley loves Alex

I have been putting Alex in her crib for little naps here and there and when I am cleaning up her room or Bradley's. I had put Alex in her crib awake so I could hang up all her laundry and she fell asleep so I left her in there and went about my cleaning. I heard Bradley talking on HER baby monitor and this is what I found when I went into her room.

When I asked him what he was doing, he told me that he was checking on Alex and she was awake and needed her toy. He was also telling her a story. He really does love Alex and gives her hugs and kisses all the time. If I am busy he will come tell me that he is going to check on Alex and he will go find her and make sure she is ok.

Alex's Blessing, BYU Football and Babes Fried Chicken....

Bryan's family has been in town for Alex's Blessing and the newly ranked #9 BYU Football. We all went out to dinner Monday night and I suggested Babe's Fried Chicken. They wanted a Texas experience. When we got there I know they where definitely questioning my suggestion. Roanoke is small and it is kind of in the middle of no where and they are doing a lot of construction in front of the restaurant. But as soon as we got a table and the food started coming, they were sold.

So here are the pictures. I don't have any of the football game because I didn't go, but the guys said it was an amazing game.

Bradley and Alex

Here are some new pictures of Bradley and Alex together. Bradley is so good with Alex. Whenever we are home and she starts to cry he runs over and brings her a toy. Usually it is a lego, but it's something. He will also pat her arms and tell her not to cry.

The other day we were driving in the car and Alex was freaking out because she was hungry and Bradley said "let me out so I can take care of her." If we wouldn't have been sitting in traffic we would have let him out, but it was so sweet and he was very serious. I am sure that once they get older he will be telling his friends to let him out of the car so he can go take care of someone that made her cry. He also likes to follow me into her room when I am changing her and he has made it his job to turn the light off and on for me.

I had started this burp cloth the day before I had her and am just now finished. I am really liking the cloth diapers as burp cloths. They soak so much up and wash up really well. I need to make some more since they seem to be constantly dirty. I hope to get several more made in the next week since Bryan is off. You can't see it very well but the A is surrounded by several red circles. It was as close to polka dots as I could get.

Updates on Alex

Here are some more recent pictures of Alex. My mom and I had a little to much fun playing dress up.

Alex has one dimple just like Bradley, their dimples are even on the same side. She has my dark complexion and her hair is turning light. She is a great baby and very easy to please, she only cries when she is hungry and even then as soon as you pick her up she stops. She is a great nurser and doesn't miss a meal. She has nursed great since she came out and since I could feed a village we seem to be attached at the ... Alex is still in the eating, pooping, sleeping stage but is starting to be awake more and more. We haven't ventured out much because I don't like to take a newborn out in public and I don't know how I would even be able to with 2 kids and one being as outgoing as Bradley is. I have gotten a wrap/sling and love it. It keeps Alex completely covered and is really comfortable to wear.

Bradley really likes Alex and asks a lot about her. He is really good about not bothering her. He is most interested in the breast pump than anything else. He doesn't like it when she cries and he loves to sing her a song.

While my parents were here we got a lot done. My mom and dad can do anything, so we got curtains hung, garage organized, tubs put in attic storage, trimmed and cleaned both front and back yards, hung decorations in Alex's room, fixed the crib, fixed the toilet and there is so much more. Thanks again mom and dad.

Thank you to everyone who brought us meals and has helped out. We really appreciate it.

Bradley and chopsticks!

Before I had Alex, my mom, Bradley and I went to Genghis Grill and tried it. It was very yummy and Bradley was so funny. He insisted on eating with chop sticks the whole time. He actual ate a ton of food and did really well.

I went into the hospital to be induced at 7 am. My mom and I got there a little early because I overestimated the traffic at 6:30 in the morning. They started the pitocen at about 8:20 and shortly after that broke my water. I got an epidural and everything was going smooth. We had set up with a babysitter to be at our house at 3 so Bryan could then come down. He was staying with Bradley and getting some things done around the house. We thought it would be a much longer day than it was. A little before 3 I was dilated to a 5 and not much was going on. A little while later I started to get some really intense pain in my hip even with the epidural. So the nurse checked me a little before 4 and I was already dilated to 10 and ready to push. She called the Dr to come in and we called Bryan to see where he was. Luckily Bryan was parking the car. I pushed once with out Bryan there, then when Bryan got there I pushed again. During the 2nd push the Dr was on her way. So on the 3rd push the nurse stopped me mid way because the Dr wasn't there yet and Alex was coming. I was totally numb which was really nice but I kept feeling just a little pressure. The Dr came in and quickly got ready and Alex was on her way out. While Alex was coming out, the room suddenly got serious and the Dr starting calling for instruments. I was oblivious to how serious the situation was, all I new is that the cord was cut by the Dr before Alex was even all the way out. Apparently the cord was wrapped around Alex's neck and was super tight and Alex was just limp. Before I new what was happening they had called the NICU nurses in and they were working on Alex while I was just trying to see. I did see her for one second and she looked blue to me, but it was across the room. Thank God for hospitals and their quick response because they worked on her in my room and got her breathing. She was not crying for the longest time and I know my mom and Bryan saw way more than I did.



This birth couldn't have been more different than Bradley's. We are very grateful that everything is ok with Alex and the Dr's and nurses were so good to us and very helpful.

Alex looks a lot like Bradley did, except he has my olive skin. She has a good amount of dark hair, but her eybrows are white, so we will see what happens when her hair gets longer.
