First Visit to Utah Part 4: Wrapping Up

Here are a few more pictures from Utah! We had such a wonderful time spending time with our family up there, and everyone absolutely loved spending time with you! It was such a blessing to be able to do that before we move back East for Residency!

As you can see from your red face, you are screaming in this picture. Still not a fan of the bath. Fingers crossed you will be some day!

Aunt Addi loved spending time with you when she and the boys came up from Arizona for your blessing! We are so blessed to live so close to them in Arizona, and we are going to miss them like crazy!

You were always being held by someone while we were in Utah--kind of made for a rough transition when we got back to Arizona and we couldn't keep that up-but  you sure loved it while we were there! Grandma Bear gave you these cute PJs.

You looked so cute in this little outfit I just couldn't resist! It's from Grandma Bear as well.

This is your dad's favorite picture of you. He was playing with you and snapping pictures. I have to agree--you look pretty dang cute in it! That adorable hoodie is from Grandma Berg!

Grandma and Grandpa Berg were nice enough to babysit for us one night so we could go to the Capitol Theater with Grandma and Grandpa Bear! We went to the Market Street Grill for dinner and saw War Horse at the theater. It was a fun night out, but we sure missed you!

Birth Announcement

 

This is your birth announcement that I made to give to people at the blessing. It was hard to pick your pictures because I loved them all so much! Luckily Whitney had only finished proofing a handful of them, so I had less to pick from--otherwise we would have had a problem! You are such a beauty!

Blessing Day!!!

We decided that since we had basically all of our family up in Utah, we would do your blessing while we were up there. It was such a special day. Grandma and Grandpa Bear were nice enough to let us do the blessing at their house. It was Easter Sunday. What a great day to have your blessing--the same day that we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we also got to celebrate that blessing of eternal families that our Savior's Atonement made possible. Your dad did such a great job. He was nervous before, and was trying all weekend to think about what he wanted to say. When he did the blessing, it was perfect. You did a great job and looked so beautiful. You weren't the happiest baby that day, but you calmed down during the blessing. That was definitely a tender mercy for your mom and dad. Your dress was beautiful--your Grandma Bear found it and it couldn't have been more perfect for you. I even made your headband--not a great first attempt, but it worked! You had so many family and friends come to see you-we were so grateful that we were able to have it in Utah where we have so many people who love you that were able to come. Addi and the boys even came up from Arizona for the blessing! We are so grateful to have you as part of our eternal family and for the gospel of Jesus Christ that allows us to have that knowledge and blessing--that families are forever. This is some of the most cherished knowledge that we have, and we hope that we can instill in you that desire to know your Savior and to love Him as we do. We love you with all our hearts, Sweet Girl!

First Visit to Utah Part 3: LASIK

Your Aunt Myrna is a miracle worker. Your dad has been wanting to get LASIK surgery on his eyes so he doesn't have to wear contacts or glasses anymore FOREVER. We just can never make the timing work. Aunt Myrn works at an eye surgery center in Utah. So, while we were up there, I gave her a call seeing if it would be at all possible to get Andy in this time around. We figured it would be a good time to do it, since he was close to starting his residency and would have super long hours, which are hard with contacts, apparently. She said that they only had one surgery day left for the month and they were all booked up, but she would look and see what she could do. Here's how it worked out: she called me the next day (Thursday) and talked to Grandma Bear, since I wasn't around. Then she called your dad at work. She said that she had been able to figure out a way to get him in for surgery the following Thursday if he could leave work early that day to go to a screening visit, then he would have his pre-op visit on Monday and the surgery on Thursday. The physician that was going to perform the surgery had to re-certify with the machine, so they would do the case for free--all that we had to pay for was to turn the machine on. So, he talked to the doctor he was working with, and he was nice enough to agree to the plan.

So your dad had the surgery. It was an interesting day--he went in for the procedure and they had to stop after one eye was done because he had bubbles in a chamber in his eye, so the laser wouldn't focus. So we had to wait for about 2 hours in between eyes, when usually they do both of them in one shot. So, in between, we went and got some Crown Burger. Your dad looked pretty good-he had one eye taped shut and the dark ophthalmic glasses on. It was awesome. But he got some food and went back and had his other eye done. Bada bing bada boom. Like I said--Aunt Myrn is a miracle worker.

First Visit to Utah Part 2: Newborn Photo Shoot

 While we were up in Utah, we figured that we would take advantage of the fact that one of our good friends is a professional photographer! We had asked Whitney earlier if she would have any time to do a newborn...ish...photo shoot for us while we were up there, and she was nice enough to squeeze  us in! We went on General Conference Saturday and they had it playing in the background while we did our photo shoot! Alan and Whitney were nice enough to let us do the shoot at their house since we didn't have a place to do it. It was so much fun to see them and to show you off, and to get some great photos that are now treasures to us! You had a hard time staying asleep if you weren't snuggling me or your dad, so they ended up having me lay under a bunch of blankets and propped you up while you were laying on me! The pictures that Whitney looked amazing, and Alan was nice enough to capture what it looked like behind the scenes:

First Visit to Utah Part 1: The Fam!

The Bergy boys: Grandpa Phil, Dad, Grandpa Berg, Tony

 We took a break for a day in between traveling so we could all get some rest and so your dad and I could get things done around the house. Then we turned around and drove up to Utah with you so you could meet more of your family! Your dad was lucky enough (with Grandpa Bear's help) to get a pediatric rotation up in Layton, so we had the opportunity to come and spend time with our family before we move back East! We drove up to St. George with you first, and, of course, you did amazing. We actually only stopped twice on the 7 hour drive up! You are such a great traveler. We slept there overnight and then drove the rest of the way up to Bountiful. You have been able to meet a lot of your family, and they are all so excited to meet you! You are a hot commodity! You were able to meet your Grandpa Berg and Grandpa Phil, your Uncles and Aunts, and our adopted family as well! We tried to document as many of these first meetings as we could--we missed some, but I think we did pretty well! Picture overload here, in no particular order...
