I love any holiday that will give me an excuse to decorate. Yes, even St. Patrick's Day gets decorations around here.

Date Night

The key to happiness (and making it through dental school) is date night. We ate Chipotle on top of Midwestern's parking garage while watching the sunset. #magical!

Working on the ultimate "wall" display in the girls room... scrapbooking paper and chicken wire are going to make these frames AWESOME! #lovemesomecrafting!

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart was this past Saturday and Keagan and Riley were excited to jump for this great cause. Both kids managed to raise money thanks to these great people: Grandma and Grandpa (Both mine and Davids), The Crosbys, The Christensens, Papa and Rosie. Thanks again for helping the kids reach there goals. My favorite part of the day is when Keagan took me over to her heart, she jumped for me. Love that girl!

Valentine's Day Party

Here are the photos from Keagan's school Valentine's Day party. It was fun to "love" up the food by cutting out heart pound cake and strawberries. We also had brownies with mint topping, and heart shaped pizza. Yum!

One more to go!

We survived another quarter of dental school! David has been working harder than ever this past quarter and I am happy to see it go. We added it up, and the last 72 hours of this week he has had only 6 hours of sleep. After the last test yesterday we met up with the Crosby's had pizza, rootbeer, Coconut pineapple cheesecake bars (recipe below) and just relaxed! So grateful we now get a week off before David gets back into it. One more quarter now and we can kiss this year goodbye!

Thanks to everyone who has been encouraging us and cheering us on. This dental school thing is hard work, but to see David love it and do extremely well helps my desire to keep on going!


Pineapple Cheesecake Bars

Crust:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter, room temperature
In a medium bowl combine flour, sugar and butter. Mix until crumbs. Press into large cookie sheet (12x17x1) and poke holes in the crust with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. While the crust is baking, prepare the coconut topping and cream cheese filling.
Coconut Topping:
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups sweetened coconut, grated
In a small bowl, mix together melted butter and coconut. Set aside.
Cream Cheese Filling:
16 ounces cream cheese
2 eggs
4 Tablespoons sugar
4 Tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons almond extract
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple (undrained – juice and all)
Combine cream cheese, eggs, sugar, milk, almond extract and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Add crushed pineapple and mix. Pour cream cheese filling over baked crust. Sprinkle coconut topping over cream cheese filling. Bake at 350 degrees 18-20 minutes or until coconut has browned and middle is set. Chill for at least one hour before serving.

Life is Fragile

I opened up my computer yesterday and discovered that a family friend of the Charon's had died of a massive heart attack. It really makes you realize that life is indeed fragile, and we should tell the people around us that we love them, because tomorrow, they might not be there. It hurts my heart when I see people hold onto things, and find fault in others that love them.

So here is my "to do" list: I need to take the time and clear things up that are broken, because you never know what's ahead. Be good to one another, forgive and enjoy those who love you and care about you. Give people some slack, I need lots of it, all the time, so it's only fair to let others have some too.

Love my family, both within my walls and out, I think I might actually call all of them today and tell them that.

We finally got around to doing something about Riley's room. We switched the rooms around a few months ago, and it's nice now to have his more finished than not. There are still small things like pictures, blah blah blah, but so far I LOVE IT!

Mommy Daughter Day

Keagan and I spent some time together last week. I love this little girl! It was nice just to pal around with her. We stopped by the Apple store to check in my computer, and while we were waiting she had a great time playing on the new ipad's. Then we went and ate cookies for lunch at Paradise Bakery. What a great day!

Riley's Soccer

The last 6 weeks Riley has been attending a soccer camp at Midwestern. David and I thought this would help him with not only social skills but hand/eye coordination. I am happy to report that Riley LOVES soccer. I couldn't believe how fast he picked it up, and how much he enjoys playing.

I just bought some of these, can't wait to paint them and turn them into something spectacular, that will not only be functional, but awesome! They don't even know what's coming ;) Love craigslist!!! (ok.. this is two days later, and here is a peek at what I am doing)

Vinyl by Cami

My SIL Cami cut a TON of vinyl for me, and I have been dying to put it up, but hadn't found the perfect spots.... until now. This wall seperates two of the bedrooms, and I think it's the perfect spot for this vinyl quote and a picture of the kiddies feet!

Boring to beautiful

My favorite online site is craigslist, I know, sounds nuts and I am sure absurd coming from this Pinterest junky, but really, craigslist is where I go to make the magic happen. I have been searching for months for the perfect bed frame, and finally, I found it! I picked this beauty up for $60 dollars from a home that resembled the setting for the movie, "Deliverance" Crazy. Anyways... I was happy to get out of there with a steal of a bed, and my life :) (ok, I am being a little dramatic)

So here is the before: (BORING!)

A Can of "Paprika" satin finish spray paint by Rust-oleum completely transformed that boring head and foot board. Love my new bed! Stay tuned for pictures of our room transformation!

I {Heart} Valentine's Day!

I love decorating for the holiday of "love". Though I fully don't understand the holiday, I think you should show the special people in your life love everyday, I still love decorating for it. This year we added some new decorations to the line up. More banners, I just love them, they are easy to make, so why not, right? I also made cute valentines envelopes to go on the back of the kitchen chairs. So here's the house.. All "LOVED" up :)
