Cookies! and a cake too...

This is a rose cake I made for an auction recently.
This is a big chocolate chip cookie I made to look like a pizza. It was SO good. It is topped with red buttercream icing, the "cheese" is white chocolate and the "olives" are chocolate covered peanuts.

THese are sock monkey cookies I made for a first birthday party recently.

This is a peppermint cake I made for my brother in laws birthday last year. These pics are horrible because they came from my phone.

6 Months

Here is Hudson's 6 month picture. He has started making the funny face you see in the bottom picture where he tucks his lower lip in. Austin used to do this too.

5 Months

This picture is only a month old! LOL Isn't he the cutest thing!? Hudson is now 6 months old and I will hopefully have his 6month picture up soon.

Austin the Artist

Austin has become quite the artist recently. He draws constantly and is always wanting us to draw things for him. He loves to draw sharks and dinosaurs. Here are two of my favorite drawings of his.

This drawing is full of sharks. The one in the lower right hand corner is a Great White Shark and the one in the middle is a Saw Shark. The one on the left hand side started out as a basking shark which is really big, then he made it into a saw shark.

The drawing in orange is a Triceratops! How good is that!!!???

4 months

Hudson was 4 months old on Sept 26!

Grandpa's House

We went to Grandpa Kenny's house a few weekends ago. Hudson was smiling big for Uncle Kevin! Chris, Austin and Grandpa Kenny went fishing. I was really surprised but Austin was picking up those fish and holding them!

At Hudson's 2mo appt he weighed nearly 13 lbs. He is getting heavy now! I have his 3 mo pic but I haven't downloaded it to the computer yet. I think he is starting to look a bit like Chris. At least more so than Austin does.

He still isn't sleeping all night. that is getting to be a little tough. He wakes up anywhere between 3 and 5 every morning. I knew this would be a tough time for me. I am not a very good napper and having Austin means I can't go back to sleep for very long in the mornings so I am really tired most of the time. I am so tired that I feel nauseated a lot, i have a constant headache, my ears ring, and when I wake up in the mornings the room just spins like I have a hangover or something. not fun! so hopefully he will start sleeping all night SOON!

Hudson

Here are some random pictures of Hudson. His hair has gotten a lot lighter. Austin's turned white when his new hair came in...I wonder if the same will happen with Hudson. I promise he is not mad in these pictures. He just always has a serious look on his face. I think he gets that from his Daddy!

2 Months

Here is Hudson at 2 months. He has grown so much! We are on our 3rd set of sleepers, he is in a size2 diaper and everyday I find something else that doesn't fit him anymore. We go to the dr for his 2 month appt next week and I can't wait to see how much he has grown!

I am really glad that I am able to breastfeed this time around. I wasn't able to with Austin. I was sooo stressed out when I had him. Breastfeeding though isn't fun. I have had to eliminate almost everything I like from my diet. No more caffiene, peanut butter, trail mix, chcolate, Splenda, anything spicy and anything garlicky. I miss my morning coffee and I miss eating peanut butter sandwiches. I'm saving lots of money though right? haha! Have any of you had to give up this much food while breastfeeding?

One Month

This is Hudson's one month picture. He was a perfect baby for the first 2 weeks...now he is a bit fussy. I am breastfeeding and I have eliminated a lot of my favorite foods and that has seemed to help.

He's Here!!!

Hudson finally arrived just after midnight on May 26. He was 8lbs 9oz and 20 3/4 inches long. On May 25th I had my 39 week dr appt. While I was waiting I started to get really nervous for some reason! When I finally got to see the dr my blood pressure was up, my face was flushed and I was burning up hot! Turns out I was dilated to 4.5 cm. I wasn't in any pain though even though they said I was in labor. I couldn't even feel any contractions which I thought was strange...I thought I would feel SOMETHING! Anyway, they went ahead and admitted me and a few hours later he was born!

He looked almost exactly like Austin when Austin was born and he also had a head full of black wavy hair. They had to take him away almost immediately because they thought he might be having trouble breathing. They brought him back pretty soon after that though. He was fine.

I had honestly looked forward to my hospital stay my entire pregnancy. My stay with Austin was wonderful and it was even better this time! It was so nice to get a break from watching cartoons, cleaning house, cooking... Chris stayed with me the first 2 nights and the third night it was just me and Hudson. He was sooo good and we even got 5 hour stretches of sleep. I just snuggled with him and even let him sleep in the bed with me which is not something I normally do. It was a wonderful 3 days! I'm sure the pain meds helped too...LOL!

It's kinda funny...when Austin was born, everyone was at the hospital! This time though only my dad was there. I didn't even get any flowers or anything!

35 Weeks

I was 35 weeks pregnant this past Wednesday and let me tell ya, I am ready to have this baby! I am just mentally and physically exhausted. I have a feeling he is going to come a little early...it could just be wishful thinking though! LOL! I am ready to get my body back, I am ready to sleep on my stomach again and a frozen margarita or Sam Adams beer sounds awfully good! Starting next week I will go to the dr every week until this kiddo is born!

Hudson's rocking horse. The rocking horse was a total surprise for me. My dad built it! Not that that is unusual, he used to build houses for a living...I just wasn't expecting him to build anything for Hudson so I was really excited about it. Chris stained it black and blue and I am very happy with how it turned out. And that is Hudson's room! I tried to keep it simple and clutter free this time. At least it will stay that way for a little while...i hope!

This is Hudson's dresser or chest of drawers (and shelves!) that Chris painted. My dad had built it for me years ago and I just never painted it.

This is a wreath my best friend Lauren made for me. I think it is the cutest thing! She had it hanging on her front door for my baby shower.

This is a book shelf Chris built and the artwork that I had ordered. Chris made the frame for it. I love how it turned out.

Preparing for the Baby

The top picture is our closet under our stairs which I had Chris turn into a pantry for me. I absolutely love it! The bottom picture is a bench and a coat rack I had Chris make for the boys. We have a coat rack behind our front door but this one is lower so Austin can reach it and the bench gives him a place to put his shoes, socks, mittens, hats, etc.. Eventually I will get baskets to go in the bench to hold the smaller stuff. I just haven't gotten around to it yet!

Happy Easter (a little late!)

We had a wonderful Easter this year! Austin loves tattoos so the Easter Bunny left him several in the eggs Austin hunted. The Easter Bunny left him a trail of eggs to find his big present on my treadmill. Later that day my parents came up to visit and we had a wonderful Easter dinner and I made I think the best carrot cake I have ever tasted! Between the 5 of us we ate 3/4 of the cake! Even Austin loved it and couldn't get enough!

These cookies are the ones I made for Austin to take to Mother's Day Out for his Easter Party there. I was very happy with how they turned out!

Mask Cookies

So this is my latest creation. These are some sample mask cookies for a Quinceanera (I think I spelled that correctly!). I looooove how they turned out! What do you think?

I love to cook nearly anything sweet. I am really starting to toy with the idea of maybe opening my own little bake shop. It would obviously be way after my bundle of joy arrives and after I test many more recipes but I really think it would be a lot of fun to cook sweets all day! I have some cookies coming up in the next couple of weeks that I am excited about and I can't wait to show those!!!

Deadliest Catch

My favorite tv show in the whole wide world is Deadliest Catch. If you don't know what it is, it is a show about crab fishermen on the Bering Sea up by Alaska. Tonight at 8 is the 2 hour season premiere and I can't wait!!! We are even having crab cakes for dinner tonight to celebrate. I hope I don't go into labor on a Tuesday night because Hudson will have to wait until Deadliest Catch is over before I head to the hospital! LOL just kidding! I will just watch it at the hospital!

33 Weeks

Tomorrow I will be 33 weeks along in my pregnancy. I have been feeling really good. I do get tired and my feet are starting to hurt from all this extra weight on them but really, I can't complain. I get to take a nap almost every afternoon so that really helps. I am also still sleeping really good at night so far. I am also carrying this kid pretty low so I can still breath pretty good too which is nice! With Austin i had problems with my blood pressure and major swelling. So far I have only had a little bit of swelling and my blood pressure is doing great. I had to be induced with Austin but this time I'm hoping I go into labor on my own...I know I may regret saying that if the pain gets to be really bad! LOL!!! I have just a few things left to do in Hudson's room and a few little things to do around the house. Once everything is finished, he is more than welcome to make his appearance!!! I really cannot wait to see what he will look like, what his personality will be and to just hold my very own baby again. I hope to be able to enjoy having a baby this time around. ANd if Chris and I have any say in it, this will be our last child. I don't think I could handle more than 2 and 2 is probably pushing it! I can't wait to get pictures up of everything we have done around the house to get ready for our new little man.

My Shower

My baby shower was on Saturday at my best friend Lauren's house. I just wanted a small shower and I told her to keep it simple. It was simple and OH-SO-CUTE!!! My only request was a cake made by Shelby Lynn's in Springdale. The cake turned out ADORABLE and of course I forgot to get a close up of it! It had a crocodile on it to match the bedding I went with. It was a chocolate cake with buttercream icing and a cookies and cream filling. YUM! My friend Tiffany who also helped with the shower had some cookies made for the shower. Some had little crocodiles on them and then some had an H on them for Hudson. They were super cute too! I got some really great gifts including the diaper cake which Lauren made for me. I got sooo many cute things and I can't wait to have Hudson wear them!!!

Birds Nests

I was decorating some cookies for my baby shower and Austin was eating some M&M's keeping me company. He saw some birds nests on the back of the bag and he wanted to make them. Well, I just happened to have all the ingredients we needed so we made edible bird nest cookies! I think they turned out cute and they tasted good too! Chris even liked them! He is not always a big fan of sweets.
