How Do You Move A Lake???

How do you eat an elephant?!

One bite at a time.

How do you move a mountain???

One scoop at a time.

How do you move a lake?!

Well, it might go something like this...

You let it snow about 5 times

(in your basement before the floor gets put on is best),

then let them melt and turn into ice in several layers of ice.

Then take 3 (or more) crazy enough people to sledge the ice into chunks.

Then shovel the chunks out of the basement into the window wells

(after windows are put in is also best)...

Then shovel them out of the window wells so that you are good and exhausted by the end of the day!

And if you have trouble getting your socks off and your feet out of your shoes, you might want to check for things like this...

(insert wince here -- and hope your tetanus shots are up to date!)

*wink wink*

... AND, just for fun, let multiple basements fill up the same as above, it'll feel like the fun NEVER ends!!!

Our basement!

Truss hold-downs are up in the house (#6) along with double-top plate straps and wall corner bracing.

And the ice is finally out of the cold storage so that the porch cap can go in!

So, what did you do today?

Well, Friend, let me tell you...

I cut a scad of boards and put in all the mid-hight wall blocking...

The Richin's worked on roofing and arches...

Heidi worked on bird blocking...

(amazing views...)

Dane put up the garage facing.

What's our motivation???

All this needs to be finished on Saturday so that we can put the floor on OUR home next week!

(Oh yeah, I also measured walls for sheetrock backing on the ceiling and walls.)
