Glee

Glee came into my life at an introductory stage during the summer as I viewed the sneak-peek of the very first episode. It truly was love at first watch. The rest of my summer I waited in anticipation for the first season of Glee to begin.

I don't know what it is about this particular show that draws me to it. Perhaps it is my deep rooted love for show tunes, my memories of choir, or the everyday fantasy that my life were an ongoing musical. Whatever the reason, I anxiously and excitedly await season two.

Italian Wedding

Every year the Alpha Phi sorority and the Sigma Chi fraternity have a big social called Italian Wedding. Either the Alpha Phi's ask the Sigs or the Sigs ask the Alpha Phi's (depending on the year) to "marry" them.

This year our theme was "Fame" and we had to wear black, silver and or gold and we had to dress as if we were famous.

At the social we got "married" and had a big dance. It was super fun!

Fraternity

Yes that's right I am becoming a Frat boy! Haha and I love every minute of it. The fraternity that I am pledging is Sigma Chi. I never thought that I would ever join one, but as I have come to know the guys and learn their ideals, I found for myself that it is something that I really want to do. Judge all you want but it is amazing.

Me Time

Dear Readers-

Over the past year or so I have been in the midst of making some life decisions. Most, if not all of you have been in similar situations: What do I want to do with my life? Where do I want to be? What is it that make me happy? etc. Within the past little while I have come to the conclusion that I have been living my life to make my friends and family happy. While I am not necessarily unhappy, I'm not exactly happy either. I feel as if I am just going through the motions at this point to avoid questioning and maybe even avoid disappointing those I love and who love me. I have again come to another conclusion recently that I can't live for others and that yes I may disappoint people along the way, but life is full of disappointment and we all get over it eventually. My hope is that you who read this will be patient with me as I figure things out. Some of my choices you may or may not approve of, but some of the choices I choose to make are for me, not you. I sincerely love you all and feel so incredibly grateful that I have been blessed with such amazing friends and family. You have all been there for me no matter what and I hope that I will continue to have you love and support.

This is why I wait tables :)

Random Observation

Since I've been waiting tables at Winger's I've noticed that girls use straws more than guys.

Happy 50th Mom!

About a month ago my dad sat me down and said "what is your choice of work in life?" and I said "I'm going to be a wedding planner." He said "correct. You are in charge of your mother's 50th birthday party." And so I went to work. for the next three weeks I ordered the cake, ordered the food, got decorations ready, got plates, cups, napkins, forks, etc. and proceeded to put it all together in my head.

The weekend of the party, we had Brianna call Mom and tell her that she wanted to take her out to dinner for her birthday. This was quite an excellent ploy to get her out of the house so I could get the house ready for the party.

The day of her party rolled around and from the moment I rolled out of bed it was go go go to get everything done. I went to a local department store earlier in the week and borrowed a few mannequins so that I could put her wedding dress, flag team uniforms, and the dress she wore in her engagement pictures on display. I also set up a table in our music room with framed pictures of Mom from age 1 to 2o. I lined both sides of the stairs with black and white balloons put balloons all through out the house.

The outside of the house was also decorated with black and white ribbon, balloons, tissue paper balls, and I had Dad line the sidewalk to the front door with clear lights.

All in all it was an awesome party and I proved to myself that I am going to be awesome at my career. Thanks to everyone who came!

Summer time

I, like many college students, have moved home for the summer to save a few dollars. Working 3 jobs should do it don't you think?

Job 1: Lab work at Dad's office. It has never been my favorite, but it is damn (pardon the french) good money.

Job 2: Knightsbridge Hall. I help with weddings and such which is perfect since I am going to be a wedding planner when I grow up. :)

Job 3: Winger's. I have always wanted to wait tables so I thought I would give it a shot. I haven't been on my own yet but hopefully I will be soon. The people I work with are fun too (for the most part). One thing I found that I don't like however is when people decide it's a good idea to come in 5 minutes before we close...no bueno...

Here she is now, Ellen Degeneres!

Oh my fun and love! At the beginning of the month I got to go to the Ellen Degeneres show with my cousin Shanalee and a couple of her friends. Before the show starts a guy comes out and gets the crowd all pumped and excited and during this little party he would hand the microphone to people to sing along with a song that they were playing and he TOTALLY gave the mic to me! It was awesome! AND I got to go down and dance on the set in front of everyone. I got a free t-shirt for that. ;) It seriously was on of the most fun things I've done. When Ellen came out I almost freaked out! I was like "Oh my gosh! It's really Ellen!"

Before we went to the studio, we were able to walk around the WB lot for a little while and we walked past the Ellen Show offices and there was a car parked right outside and we were joking around that it was Ellen's car, well we walked by again after the show and it was TOTALLY Ellen's parking space! We could have taken a picture by Ellen's car! We also saw George Clooney's parking space. So rad!

Remember the Magic

The week before my spring break my parents took my brother and sister and I to Disneyland for a couple of days and it was oober fun! It had been about 5 years since my last Disney experience so it was nice to go back and Remember the Magic...and it was nice to get away from life for a couple of days. After Disneyland we went to Vegas for the weekend and went to a couple of the Mountain West Conference basketball games and watched the boys team take the championship. Saturday after the championship game the rents took Brianna and me to go and see Phantom. It was awesome! Thanks for such a fun week Mom and Dad! Love yer faces!

Spring Break consisted of working all week for my dad. It was all good though because I made the mega bucks! I love huge paychecks.

On that note...the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines school as an organization that provides instruction. The Andrew Barnett dicitionary defines school as an organization that provides on-going stress and hair loss accompanied with assignments, quizzes and exams. This semester I decided that I was going to do my best to stay caught up and on top of my classes so that I had more time to do the things that I want, but it turns out I am just as busy if not busier than if I was behind. Sometimes I wonder if graduation day will ever come...

On a happier note, I got a 91% on my most recent accounting exam which totally rocks! I secretly love that class...don't ask me why...

Parade of Homes

Over President's Day weekend a group of friends and I went down to St. George to go to the Parade of homes. Holy Moly!!! There were some nice houses! There were also some not so nice houses...and some houses that we went through that weren't even part of the parade of homes (love me some open houses!) The not so nice houses were decorated all southwestern style...yuck...if you are going to own a 3 million dollar house, make it look like one.

One of the last houses we went to was 3.5 million and was absolutely amazing! The basement had at LEAST 30 foot ceilings (yes, I said the basement) and it held a basketball court, a raquet ball court, a climbing wall, a putting green, a two level weight lifting area and a 216 inch movie screen. It was AMAZING! The pool was awesome too. It had a little cave thing that went around it with a hot tub at one part and a little alcove with a TV in it at the end. It is for sale if any of you are interested.

I also tried out for SUU Idol this week and didn't even make it past round one. I missed my dad's 50th birthday party for it too. I was a little mad about that. One of the judges actually flat out told me that she hated my voice. Maybe I should take a hint and stop trying out for stuff. I may give it a rest for a while. I'll still sing when asked to though so if any of you need a musical number for church or whatever, I'm your guy! :)

Christmas cheer has come and gone

Here I am sitting in the library back at school (ugh) waiting for my next class to start (ugh) and thought I would update my blog.

Christmas was totally awesome and it was over far to quickly. I got the ultimate Christmas gift (that being a green Kitchen Aid) and some other fun stuff like a waffle iron, books, music, Christmas decor, being able to go to the Sugar Bowl to watch our Utes kick butt! (GO UTES!)

I also got to see my BFF Jordan Mitchell who lives far away in Texas. I love her!
