Thanksgiving with the Kingsfords

It was a quiet but great Thanksgiving. We decided rather than to travel we would just spend Thanksgiving with just the two of us. (Which will be the last time for awhile) It was my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner, which I thought would be stressful, but was enjoyable. I made the best apple pie ever!!! It was great having a day off with Rich to do absolutely nothing. After lunch/dinner we watched 3 movies and just vegged on the couch.

Funny Story

I went shopping at the commissary last night with my dad. ( I need his military ID to get in). We get to the check out line and the lady starts talking about my pregnant belly and asking questions like "Is this your first baby?" I responded with "It's my fist baby and it makes grand baby number 13 for him. " The cashier looked at me confused and my dad reinforced that he has 12 grand babies and this one will make 13. She then said "I thought you was husband and wife." I realize that our age difference of 32 years may not be too uncommon these days but for heavens sake we look like father and daughter.

Fall Fun

We went to fright fest at six flags last week. As much as I like haunted houses, the "haunted bridge" was not worth the wait, but it was free. Rich and I laughed our way through the bridge and I think we may have even offended the workers trying to scare us. The park looked beautiful though with the trees changing and I realized how much I do like the fall weather.
Our house was defiantly lacking in the holiday decorations so for Family night we made pumpkin spiders and Rachel Ray's pumpkin fragrance.
Rich in his spare time has become obsessed with cooking and is now even trying to make homemade pasta. He has successfully made bread and tortillas and someday I may even convince him to make me dinner.

A Great Week

This week has already been filled with surprises and thrills and is only half over. On Monday I got a job. I have been searching for the past 2 months and finally my work has paid off. I am his first hygienist and all he could do was praise me and was so grateful he no longer had to prob nor scale. Rich also got a job in internet marketing and starts tomorrow. So he is happy now that he is actually using his degree. On Tuesday we had our ultrasound. It was so fun to see our baby and definitely made the pregnancy feel more real. So, we found out that we are having a girl. We can't decide on any names but we are open to suggestions. Everything is developing properly so it looks like we are going to have a healthy little baby but that won't stop me from praying for her. This week is Rich's and my birthday so we went shopping for our birthdays and I had a hard time not buying cute clothes for our baby. So happy birthday to me!

Trip to Newfolk

My brother Jon was deployed to Iraq last week and had a long layover in Newfolk. The family squished in the car and drove to see him off. We sat around for about two hours and decided it was time to go explore the "boats". When this was suggested I thought are you kidding me I am not a little boy that gets excited when I see a boat, but when I saw the "boats" I got excited and even more when they said we could go on them. We were able to go on the Eisenhower air craft carrier that costs approximately 1/2 a trillion dollars. The pictures do not do justest on how big the ship was. It was 20+ stories and runs on nuclear power.

Nothing new

Although we may or should have had some eventful news for the past month, sadly we haven't. To sum up the month of Aug. we went to six flags in DC. All of the rides made me sick and we left a few hours after arriving. We were evicted from our apartment because of "failure to pay rent". Actually my dad decided he wanted to rent out the basement for extra money so offered us a bedroom upstairs. I guess if it's for free it's for me. R continues to work and job hunt during his lunch break and interviews several times a week before going to work. His boss is a little bit shady and never pays on time. I have an interview a week but have yet to find the perfect office. We celebrated our second anniversary by doing nothing. I came down with the flu a few days before our anniversary and then it was over. So we ended up reminiscing about our day by looking at pictures and watching our DVD. So here are some pics for those who weren't at the wedding to enjoy.

I'm having a baby

Today I'm happy to announce that I am pregnant. I am 13 weeks along and have heard a strong heartbeat so things are looking good for this baby. I am due Feb 16 and that day is not coming soon enough. I have been so tired and sick. Some days I don't get out of bed till noon. I can't eat anything and have lost all desire to eat. You would think I would be supper skinny by now, but no I have gained 5 lbs. I didn't know it was possible to gain weight when I don't eat.

4th of July in DC

To celebrate the 4th of July R, Mom, and I went downtown to the mall. The security checks made the lines way too long to get into the concert, so instead to dodge the rain we went to the air and space museum, natural history museum, and the old postal office. It was R's first time on the mall and we all decided there were 100,000 too many people to really enjoy downtown. The fireworks were fun but also a little disappointing. I was hoping since we were in the nations capital they would have the best show, but sadly I have seen better in Provo UT of all places.

2 Weeks of Vacation

To celebrate graduating R and I rewarded ourselves with a two week vacation. Our first vacation was with the R's family to California. We went to six flags for the first few days and then to sea world. I loved it all and it was a great way to say goodbye to the family. When we flew home from Cali we got in our car to start our next adventure, a drive across the US. We started in SLC and planed on stopping 8 hours later in Nebraska but our plans were ruined when we found out there were no hotels available in the state of Nebraska because of the flooding in Iowa. This forced us to continue on driving through the night. We ended up staying in the worst hotel east of Chicago. It had the worst smell, holes in the sheets from cigarettes, and off white towels. Surprisingly I didn't care and slept for 12 hours straight. We then continued on to Canadaguia NY for my family reunion. For those of you who have met my family will understand fully what this all entails. There were about 90 family members. Canadaguia is right out of Palmyra so we were also able to see the church history sites there. My brother S blessed his baby in the Sacred Grove after my family attended the Palmyra temple. As my brother said, it didn't make it more spiritual but it did make it more memorable. Our vacation ended with driving to DC to move in Daddy's basement.

I'M DONE!!

My last day of school was on June 13th. It is the best feeling to know that I will never have to study for a final, stay up late doing homework, being worried about grades, listening to a teacher read a power point, having an instructor watch over my shoulder, or buy another textbook that I won't use. On the last day of school we had one last party to say goodbye and pass out our real diplomas. I received my license in the mail a few weeks later and am now and official Registered Dental Hygienist. Now that it is all over I can finally say it was worth it. Maybe.

No More Carrabbas

I will never have to serve again. As you can see my work pants are worn out too. Good thing I had an apron to cover them up. I worked at Carrabbas for the past 2 years, and have never been more excited to quit a job. My biggest tip was 250.00 (not too bad for Utah tippers) I did love meeting lots of people and miss my regulars, co-workers, and taking home cash every night.

Job Interviews

R has been job hunting and his work is finally paying off. R recently had his first two job interviews! He was very excited but is even more excited to get a good job. He wants something in business research that would challenge him. He interviewed with Corporate Executive as a research coordinator and Com Score inc as a data analyst in Washington D.C. The first picture was taken to possible send via email to future employees. Looks can be deceiving as you see in the second picture taken shortly after the first.

2 weeks left

R and I only have 2 weeks left of school. Although I have already graduated, they still hold me hostage every day. This semester has been the easiest of all but the most difficult to stay awake. We ("the back row girls") spend our time reading novels, playing sudoku, sleeping, playing phase 10; you name it (except for listening).

I passed boards!!!!!!

I passed all of my boards. Of those of you who haven't experienced national boards, you can't relate to how amazing this feels. It took over 6 long weeks to get my national dental hygiene boards results back. Like everyone else in my class I thought I had failed; but I am pleased to announce that I got a 94% on my clinical exam and a 84% on the written exam. Since I no longer have to study endlessly for the exams I have decided to spend my extra time blogging.
