More snow....

GRRRR

Ugh. I can't get the bullets to work like I wanted to in the last post. I'm sorry.... but I am too tired and have to work tomorrow to try to fix it.

Promised updates

Let's see... Family updates:

I'll start with John:

He is now running and climbing everywhere.
He is talking up a storm. Lots of things that we can understand, and many that I haven't got a clue what he is saying (and am really afraid to know)
Some things that he says that just melts my heart:

"I LOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEE YOUUUUUU" (with just that emphasis on it)
Tiss mommeeeee (Kiss mommy)
Meeeeeemooooo (Mamaw, said when he sees her BRIGHT blue van)
Taaantoo mommeeeee (thank you mommy - said as I buckled him into his carseat yesterday to go to the doctor)

We are slowly introducing to potty, with little successes (he's actually peed on it twice!)

note to self -- when the new pics are downloaded put up the ones of him wearing his potty chair...

He loves to play outside and kick the leaves around on the driveway
He is now about 26 lbs and 32 inches tall
He drums on EVERYTHING! In fact, Daddy and I are getting him a child sized drumset for Christmas... I know, I know, What on EARTH are we thinking, right? Well... I am thinking he has turned a stack of boxes into a drumset for himself, so why not encourage that creativity?
He really enjoyed our trip to the beach this summer. at first he wasn't so sure about the ocean, but by day 2 he LOVED the surf and running in it.
We are working on punishments in our house... the spongebob mat daddy got for time out has been getting alot of use lately, but our little man is already doing better about not messing with the Christmas Tree and not climbing on the coffee table :-).
some of his favorites include

Cars -- he will sit fours HOURS and watch Cars. Not even kidding.
Fraggle Rock (Thank God Daddy has the first season on DVD)
Oobi
Hot Dogs and Sausage
Shrimp -- who would have thought! My kid likes seafood... wow!

We'll tackle Daddy next

Daddy is in school right now, about to finish his 1st semester.
he's pretty sure that he has decided he would like to be a journalist, and is going to get a degree in high school english education in order to support us while he strives for that goal.
Of course he is in his first semester, so that may change. And that is totally ok, cause we (John and I) want him to be happy with what he is doing every day.
He's working with the sheriffs dept. still, in addressing. All the signs in the county (road signs, street signs, etc.) are all under his responsibility.
He's tackling school 2 days a week, work 4 days and has just one day off... so he is working his butt off, but we know that the outcome will be worth it in the end for all of us.

Let's see... I guess that just leaves me.

I am still teaching and LOVING it.
I have started a zoology class at the school where I am teaching and have really enjoyed getting into that with my students.
I will be teaching a physics class in the spring, so updates may still be kind of scarce.
I am still taking pictures and editing them. I'd still LOVE to start a business, but I just don't have the extra time, and frankly I just love teaching too much.
I really enjoy taking pictures of John though, and hope to be at least updating more often with pictures of him or the rest of the family.

I think that is about it for the updates. I'll try to get on here more often and update with what John is up to at least, but with the end of the semester creeping up on me, the only reason I have time today is because John and I were both home sick today.

Here are some pictures from the summer and fall of 09. I can't get them in the order I want, but they are from vacation in July all of the way up to Christmas Tree decorating on Black Friday.

let's see, since I updated last

We went on our first "real" vacation to Panama City. We stopped at the ATL Zoo on the way there and John loved the elephants!
Daddy started College and is doing really well with it. He will finish up his first semester in about 2 weeks.

We celebrated mommy's 27th birthday... man I feel old

We celebrated John's first "real" halloween - and he LOVED it

We had a wonderful photo session with the people at target and bought the CD because the prices were RIDICULOUS for what they were selling us

We had a lovely Thanksgiving at Mamaw and Papaws house with Papaw's side of the extended family

We decorated the tree and mantle for Christmas

And now... EVERYONE in the house is sick. I wish I was kidding but I am not.

So, I'll try to make a post for you with pictures and updates on the monkey later today, but until then, enjoy this one from our target session...

Fourth of July Fun!

Yes, because you will probably be wondering -- John actually wore the sunglasses the whole time at the parade... like 3 hours! He actually loves his mickey glasses :-)

Quite Behind...

Well hello!

It's been a while since I updated this. Things got crazy at the end of the school year. Not only was I wrapping up my day job so that all of my students were ready for exams and the summer, I started working at the night school here in town. I am really enjoying the change of pace there, but it makes me love working at the high school even more! I am working hard to get my classes ready for the fall, and loving staying at home with the little one this summer.

Speaking of the little one...

This is my munchkin and I at the end of May. He is now 15 months old, has 5 teeth and is 24.5lbs and 30.5 inches tall (we went in for his 15month check up today). He is walking and running EVERYWHERE and has no fear. He climbs on everything :-O... He says so many things now... Hi, bye bye, mama, dada, papaw, mamaw, thank you, fish, go, stop, nite nite, see, and up, to name some of them. (I had to put this together for the doc today) We are working on more words, and on getting him to use them when asking for things.

Bill is working on getting started with college this fall. He's finally accepted, now we just have to get classes set up and hope that his GI Bill stuff comes through soon... say a prayer for us!
