Quiet

It is so quiet here. I love school. Don't get me wrong, I love my children. It is just that it is so much harder for them to fight and make messes when they are at school. I love year round school. It is nice to have them home for a few weeks and then even nicer when they go back. I have I have three whole hours with just Isabella and Gabriel. I think I may even get some laundry done. The other nice thing about having my kids in school is it gets me going in the morning. As much as I love to sleep in a little it is nice to have more of a schedule. Well, I am off to tackle my house. It may even stay clean for an hour.

Elizabeth "Ellie" Jeanne Rodgers

After much deliberation Janie and Ryan came up with a name for this little beauty. Elizabeth after Janie's childhood friend Elizabeth Leavitt and Jeanne after her most adored sister Holly. Yes I know that I am Holly and I just said that I was Janie's most adored sister and that it isn't very humble of me to say so but it's the truth so there. Since her birth two days ago Ellie has got even cuter. This may be due to the fact that all the newborn swelling has gone down. I can now see more of her daddy in her face. She is a perfect mix of her two parents. Janie and baby are doing well. Ellie loves her mommy to hold her and is trying to get the hang of breastfeeding. I am so happy for my sister and her darling husband. I love them both very much and wish them the best with their new little bundle.

Baby Rodgers

Welcome to the world liitle baby Rodgers. Or shall we simply call you baby. I am unsure as are Janie and Ryan. At 1:47 p.m. today this beautiful little baby came into our lives. She weighed 6lbs 13 oz. and is 20 inches long. She is in a word, adorable.
I was privledged to be at the birth. I was also in attendance for the entire labor. We got to the hospital yesterday at 4:30 p.m. and were sent home at 7:30 p.m. to labor at home. We returned again to the hospital at midnight hoping not to be sent home again. Thankfully Janie got to stay. 13 hours and 47 minutes later baby cutie pants was born. I am too tired to say much more about it. Here are some pictures that say more than I ever could. I am sure I will have more to say when I have gotten a little sleep.

my brother matched!!!

My little brother is a genius. He really is. He just finished four years of medical school. Not only did he do this but he managed to get into the very competitive field of dermatology. Apparently you have to be quite a smarty pants to get into this program. The great pay and hours make it very desirable. Today he found out that he is going to Milwaukee for his residency. We are very sad that his is leaving but happy that he will first complete a year here for his interim. It is crazy how they match you up with your program. You interview a ton of places, which you pay to fly to by the way, and then you rank your top choices. The schools you interview at also rank you. Then through a system far beyond my understanding they match you to a program. Adam got his second choice! Although he says that his first and second were both his first. I am so happy for them. I will miss them but they promised to come back after and set up his practice here. I think we will have to go take a trip and visit. Congrats bro!

lookie what I did!

I was on the Web looking at free downloads when I came across a site that had a cool slideshow on it. I just had to do it too. It was not that hard. Now I can have it on my blog!!! Isn't it the coolest? I am so technically gifted. I am sure that when Haylie reads this she is going to laugh right out loud. She was at my house today when I was trying to figure out how to put this on my blog. She is way more gifted than me when it comes to doing cool things on the computer. Teach me Haylie. Master of the Computer.

Easily Distracted

That is me. Easily distracted and a bit of a procrastinator. You see right now I should be folding a mountain of laundry. I just cannot bring myself to do it. Huge does not even begin to describe the pile of laundry I have before me. My house is also a complete disaster. This really should come as no surprise to myself seeing as my kids are off track. I would be getting much more done though if I could leave my computer alone. It beckons me. Like a chocolate cake sitting on my counter begging to be eaten my computer calls to me. Check your e-mail, check your blog, look at Haylie and Kristen's blog, and so on and so forth. OK, I guess I will forsake my evil ways and go fold. Until my next distraction. Good day to you.

I love Big Bottom Babies

My baby is fat. Now I mean that in the most loving way. I love his rolls. He is the best snuggler ever. I know he is chubby but did not realize the extent of it until yesterday. I change his diapers and give him baths. I do not however ever stand him up naked and look at his backside. That is until yesterday. He has a sore bottom and I got him undressed and stood him up on the changing table before giving him a bath. At this moment I glanced at his backside and gasped. Baby's got back! I could not resist the urge to grab my camera. He will probobly kill me when he is older but I could not pass up the chance to document this chub. Scott was with me and when I pointed out our sons bottom to him he said, "he's got butt cleavage".
We took him to the doctor for his six month check-up last week and he is 20.6 lbs. (90%), 28 1/4 in. tall (95%) and his Head Circumference is 44.8 cm (80%). My baby is HUGE. Granted all my babies have been large, but after reviewing their weights at the same age, Gabe takes the cake. I love it. My only complaint would have to be that he is growing out of his clothes way to fast and he is heavier than an ox. I don't even need to work out any more. I just lug my baby around.

Joy

What is Joy? I think it is watching Janie and Ryan kneel across the alter from one another. That is joy. Beautiful joy. They had ninety people come to witness this wonderfull event. This must be what it is like to be in Heaven. I love having moments like this in my life. It reminds me of what it is all about. It makes me want to be a better person so that I can be with all of my loved ones again someday. Hugging Janie afterwards I didn't want to let go. I am so happy for them. They are so happy. Their baby is coming any day. I cannot wait. Janie is going to let me come to the hospital with them. You know I have never actually witnessed a birth that is not my own. I am honored that Janie is letting me come be with her. I can't believe she is having a baby. Holly Rodgers. That is such a nice name. Oh boy, I got joy, I do, do you?

Well, here is Scott with that chin implant. I think it's a big improvement. What do you think? Kinda looks like Jay Leno.

Happy Birthday Scottie!

I am married to an old man!! Scott turned 37 years old today! Can you believe how close to 40 he is. I think it is funny. I can tease him all I want to because I will always be 5 years younger. He he. I can't believe that he is that old. He looks so dang good for his age. Even though he is so old. We had a party for him on Sunday with his family and tonight it is my families turn. We are going to eat salmon and party like nothing else. Sounds pretty cool huh. Well, Happy Birthday Scott, you old man you.

Awesome

Awesome is the best word I can describe how I am feeling. I am so excited for Janie and Ryan. They are going to the temple this week. I am so glad they have chosen this path. They are both glowing. Part of that may be because Janie is 37 weeks pregnant. We are hoping she can make it to this weekend with baby intact. Ryan got the Melchezedik Priesthood yesterday. It is so wonderful to see him embrace the gospel as he has. Right after he was ordained he got the opportunity to help give Hayley a blessing. He even did the annointing. He did a very good job. My mom and me even applauded when he was done. I know, very inappropriate. I am just so happy for them. I cannot wait for this weekend.

Satan has bad manners

Being a parent is sometimes like watching a comedy. Sometimes your kids say something that makes you laugh right out loud. It is so facinating to watch them learn. They take all the knowledge they get from us, school, church and each other and try to make sense of it. For example: Last night we had out home teachers over. Our kids were not quite done with dinner when they arrived so Mariah was eating the last of her chicken. When the lesson was over Mariah thought for a moment and then said, "Satan talks with his mouth full, huh? Jesus waits until his mouth is empty, and then he talks." I loves kids logic. I explained to her there is a difference between sinning and bad manners. At least she is thinking about the difference between right and wrong. And who knows, maybe she is right. Maybe satan really does talk with his mouth full.
