Cow vs. Cop

If you're a regular reader of my blog (thanks for caring) and you know how terrified my poor little Alex is of the Chick-fil-a cow. I have no idea why, but if it's there while we're there he is terrified and begs to leave. Tonight we decided to take the boys out for dinner. (cause I got caught up in a project & didn't realize it was time for dinner oops! At least we have clean/organized closets now) The wanted to go to Chick-fil-a so we went. Everything was fine for a while, but as the kids were playing the dreaded cow arrived. We waited for Alex to realize it was around, which didn't take long, and we tried to show him the cow was nice. Jameson even gave it high fives and hugs, but it didn't help. He just wanted to leave. As we were gathering our things to go I pointed out a police officer in the restaurant in an effort to distract him from the terrifying cow. The conversation we had was too funny not to record for posterity.

Mama: (trying to distract him) "Look! There's a police officer."

Alex: "Yeah. He gonna shoot the cow?"

We just had to laugh! I couldn't believe that had just come out of my sweet little Alex boy's mouth. I also kinda hoped no one else heard because I didn't want people to think that's what we teach our kids to do when confronted with something they don't like. Just goes to show there's never a dull moment with these boys.

Outside Fun

Last week we got to have Klint's brother Kam and his family come from Denver, CO to stay with us while they were on spring break. It was so fun to have them and the boys especially LOVED having cute cousin Bentley (age 19 mo). She especially took to Jameson and I can't believe I didn't get any pics of her hugging him cause she did it about every 2 mins the whole time they were here. He was happy as can be to cater to her. Coming from Denver where it was still super cold they really enjoyed being able to spend time outside. Bentley really liked having her Daddy push her around on Jameson's bike.

One of the days there were here it rained all day, but that didn't keep them indoors. While Bentley kept to the dry patio and Jameson's bike, my boys did what they always beg to do whenever it rains....play in the rain. They having so much fun running and playing in the rain and even "fighting the rain". Here are the boys playing in the rain. Date Night Dance Party

We do this "Date night" thing with a couple of my sisters. Not only has it been great for us cause we get to go on a date twice a month without having to worry about getting a sitter, but the boys LOVE IT! They love being able to have their "cousin parties". The last time we had everyone at our house we decided to have a little dance party by playing Just Dance 2 on the Wii. It was so cute to see them all working so hard to get all the moves right. We were shocked at how well they all did. Here are the pics I got that night.Alex and Trevor spend a lot of time together since their big brothers go to preschool together. Lately every time some one talks about Trevor Alex says, "Trevor is my cousin! I love Trevor!" One of their favorite things to do together is just be silly. This date night they thought they were so funny sitting on these chairs in the middle of the room, then suddenly flopping forward like this....Then they'd sit back up and laugh and laugh their heads off. We all had a great time watching them doing this.

I'm so glad my kids have so many wonderful cousins to be around and that they all have so much fun spending time together.

Garden Party

I guess without some special people across the world to keep apprised of what we're doing my blogging has gotten a little slow. Actually life has just been busy with company, sickness & just plain life. So here I am again playing catch up.

A few weeks ago we decided it was that time of year again to get our yearly attempt at a garden planted. We do it for a family home evening. I took the boys to Home Depot while Daddy was at work to pick up the things that we needed. They wanted to help pick what we would grow so everyone got to pick one thing to plant. We got zucchini for Daddy, tomatoes for Mama, strawberries for Jameson, and cucumbers for Alex. While we were there picking things up I told my boys how these were the same things I used to plant with my family when I was little. Apparently that got them thinking. Pretty soon they asked if they could invite Grammy & Papa to come for family home evening to help us plant our garden. We called and invited them & they came. It was so fun to have them there. The boys were so happy to have them there to help that Grammy & Papa ended up doing most of the planting cause the boys wanted "Grammy & Papa to help me". It's so great to have some time with them so that the boys get to make these memories with them. Here are the pictures from the night.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Last month the topic they were learning about in Jameson's Preschool was careers. They learned about all different types of careers and had special visitors come by to show them what they did at their job. Jameson was thrilled to have had Daddy come to school to talk about what he does at his job. At the beginning of the month they learned about construction workers. Jameson fell in love with the idea of being an "untruction worker" (how he says construction worker). Where we live there's always lots of construction around between road work & the new temple being built we see construction happening multiple times of day. Jameson had even decided that he wanted to drive a particular type of construction truck. When we saw one on the way home from preschool one day we had to stop and take a picture. Here's my cute little guy w/the truck he's "gonna drive when he's big".One of the last careers they talked about was being a vet. Having recently spent a ton of time at the vet because of our dog's broken leg Jameson really like that one. He came home from school with this book the last day of the month. His teacher (Aunt Stacy) said he came up with this all by himself, spent a lot of time on it (a very rare thing), & drew all the pictures without prompting.
