Cutest boy ever!

Ok, so today was picture day at school. I got Sam all ready to go and he looked so darned cute that I had to snap a couple of pictures before he left. Of course he didn't really want to cooperate, but you can still tell how cute he looked :) I took him for a haircut yesterday and caved - I got it cut much shorter than I usually do. Mostly so that I can gel it and spike it! Of course he cries and doesn't want me to do it, but I managed a surprise attack with the gel this morning.

On another note, these are from Saturday. Someone was handing out little battery powered fans before the football game...who knew it would be so entertaining to Sam? He played with it forever!

Gymnastics

Sam actually hung from the parallel bar today at gymnastics! He normally puts his hands on it, screams if I try to get him to lift his feet up, and then runs off. Today, he ran right up to it, grabbed on and started swinging like a monkey! Yet another example of how he does things on his own terms...ALWAYS! I try really hard not to push him to do things when he refuses because I know it will only make it worse (within reason anyway - refusing to pick up toys or follow an order does not count). It has taken me 2 1/2 years to figure that out, but it usually results in way fewer tantrums.

He has come SO FAR in gymnastics and I'm so proud of him! I was ready to quit after the first couple of classes...and it took a full month before we actually got through a class with no tears, but now it's all good. He still refuses to participate every once in a while, but he knows now that I will make him sit and watch everyone else (he can't get up and go play somewhere else) if he decides not to participate. He gets bored pretty quickly and eventually decides to join the action! Good job buddy!

New Blog

I started a new blog...I don't know how many of you will actually read it, but I did it anyway. It's just stuff that I want to write about, but doesn't seem to fit into our family blog. Nothing too exciting since I'm not all that exciting myself! It's called Mitzi's Ramblings and there is a link in my blog roll.

Big Boy Bed

We did it, we finally put Sam in a big boy bed. He has always done so well in the crib that we didn't want to move him. However, we decided it was time. He just didn't have much room left in that crib! Plus, we are selling a lot of stuff in the Rhea Lana consignment sale this week and decided we'd try to sell the crib too.


Here are some pictures...it isn't completely finished. They sent us white rails instead of cherry ones so we need to change those out. We wanted to get it up so we could get the crib ready to sell so we'll just switch out the rails when the cherry ones get here. I also haven't found a bed skirt that I'm completely sold on so that will come as well. Otherwise I think it turned out pretty cute! I also need to move some stuff around on his walls...or have some cuter stuff made by more talented people than myself :)


Sam loves it! He's been asking us to put it together for days. He slept great last night. In fact, he didn't get up until 8am this morning (he usually gets up about 7). We checked on him before we went to bed and he had his face smashed up against the wall. Tim moved him, but who knows where he ended up after that! We have a rail on it so he won't fall out. As of now, he still doesn't realize he can actually get in and out of it without my permission. I'm hoping it stays this way for a while!

Lions & Tigers & Bears?

Well, we saw bears, but that's about it! We went to the Tulsa Zoo on Saturday but, unfortunately, there were not many animals hanging out in the heat that day. Sam still had a pretty good time. He loved the alligators and most of all, the train ride that we took around the zoo. He was SO excited!

I forgot my camera. I realized it about 6 minutes from our house, but we had already left later than we had planned so I just decided to use my phone instead. There ended up not being much to take pictures of and Sam hardly let me take any of him so it was fine.

Football

Ok, so two games have come and gone and I'm just now getting around to posting pictures...better late than never right? The games themselves are not even worth writing about, but the tailgate and watch party are!

Sam tailgated with us at last week's game. My mom, nephew and niece were with us. My nephew went to the game with Tim and me and my mom and niece kept Sam. Sam wasn't still enough to take many pictures of him, but I snapped a few of him trying to play Baggo and playing with Charlie & Gage.

Last night, we went to the Lugos' house for lots of food and game watching. I snapped a couple of pictures of Sam (in the only Razorback shirt he has right now!) and Lil Ray, the newest addition to our clan of Razorback fans.
