The Results
This is so typical of the whole process that I'm writing about what the results of this past month are without actually meeting with my doctor yet. From what I see it's pretty clear cut. All of my ultrasounds showed me ovulating with a lovely 20mm follicle on day 18. My day 21 blood test shows good TSH (a little on the low side, but above what they consider too much medication), E2 of 690 something (high, but within normal), and a progesterone of 41, nice and high. Apparently, all of my mid-luteal phase spotting has nothing to do with low progesterone, it's not even borderline. So, my end of things looks great, much better than I expected.
E, also had his sperm tested, and what we've always suspected, it's not so hot. Honestly, I have no idea how we got pregnant the first time. I'm not an expert, but from what I can tell from the results it really could be our problem. His overall sperm count is really fine, but his motility and morphology are way way way below normal. I'm hoping it's withing the range for IUI, but honestly it might be below that cutoff point as well.
I have an appointment with my OB tonight. She was awesome and got the clinic to squeeze me in tonight before my next cycle starts (tomorrow, if all things go according to the wonderful spotting I've been having). My guess she's going to say, yup, your tests look fine, E's not so hot, here's a referral to an RE.
At least it explains why we're not getting pregnant. We're not just impatient and on the wrong side of the statistics. Something is really not right. Thank god for socialized health care.
