Still ticking over, but not really up to full speed as the unpredictable British summer continues. The highlight undoubtedly was catching a Lackey on two consecutive nights, only my second and third records.

Lucky Friday 13th...............

After my last post, I wasn't too optimistic about getting anything new..........Well, how wrong can you be! Weather was quite poor with a lot of scattered showers, a less than favourable NW wind and temperatures that hovered around 13°C most of the night. The catch was fairly low, but quality was fairly high!

3 more Macros for the year...16/07

I was surprised at the turn out last night, as I wasn't going to do any trapping. But the wind dropped and while I was getting my beauty sleep, (much needed!) the trap produce the goods. Temperature down on recent nights to 12°C and some quite strong gusts at times didn't put the moths off completely. Though numbers were down, with just 1 twin 15w Actinic/UV trap out........

Absolutely brilliant to get Engrailed as I missed out on it's 1st generation. Usually a woodland species, I just didn't think I'd get one.

Hebrew Character Mystery Catty??

A horrible night with a stiff Northerly wind and temperatures dipping to just 3°C. There was also a bit of rain thrown in for good measure. However, this isn't enough to put off the hardy Hebrew Characters- 5 in all. This was it for the trap, the only other point of interest was this small stick like caterpillar around 35mm long.........
Looks like the larvae could be a Scalloped Oak- thanks to VC30 Moths
