Good intentions....

Hello there!!
Only a quick one today as I haven't done much at all. Reason being, I have pulled a muscle in my back, well my waist, but at the back not front!
So any sort of bending or just moving is pretty bad news!
I did it lifting the recycling boxes out to be emptied!Doing good for the environment aint so good for me!!
Temporarily Blinded by agony, my son sees the advantage and pinches some kitchen/toilet roll tubes out of the now discarded recycling box, knowing that if he would have asked if he could have them I would have said no!
You see one of his favourite things, for the past few years, is the shredding ( with scissors) of cardboard, he LOVES doing this!! But usually only after I have just finished hoovering/mopping the floor!! and then the ickle bits of card are scattered EVERYWHERE!!! This drives me insane!! ( I swear I'm OCD some days!) and its not as if he's intending to make anything, just destroying!!

But needless to say, he did it, I did it (Hoovering) and hey, he's a kid!

Rest of the day I washed the whole contents of my laundry hamper, prep'd some April Birthday cards, wrote thank you cards ( For Ryans Easter eggs) and made dinner. Ryan played outside with Friends and on the Xbox when the rain set in, Frank was in bed, Obviously!

Tomorrow is usually when I go and get spoiled at my Mums but I'll have to see how the muscle goes overnight! Hope I can sleep!!

Adventureland

Today we had a lovely day out to "New Brighton" which is on the other side of the River Mersey, through the tunnel (Under the Mersey) .
There is a HUGE indoor play centre called "Adventureland which is a favourite with us, we didn't see Ryan for dust whilst inside!! He made pals with a nice little boy called Daniel ( In the pictures with him) and had a whale of a time on all of the inflatables, slides, and mazes !!!
We followed our trip to adventureland with a car picnic!!! :-) Lots of fun!!!!

Ryan is now spending the rest of the afternoon and evening with Nan and Grandad and I am having some nice peace and quiet :-)

Bliss!!!!!!

25th March - Project Spellbook!

Hey there!! Today we went grocery shopping which was pretty boring, ( And also gut wrenching to see all those choccy eggs reduced by 75%"!! gggrrrrrr) but when we arrived home we set off on "Project Spellbook" We plan to make a spell book with a papier mache 3d cover ( "SPELL BOOK" written in 3D ) We made a start on the cover by cutting stiff cardboard and layering loo roll, with the PVA glue mixture, this then needs to set overnight until hard before stage 2, the 3D lettering, then when that dries overnight, stage 3, painting.

The picture shows the book after the first night of drying! I'll update further as we progress, we are going to make the "Ancient" paper again ( See Treasure maps!!) to write spells on and put inside the book with ties.

Today we had fun! I don't know whether this is just a UK thing, but Easter Monday is also a Bank holiday so no work! Yippee!! I'm off work all this week anyhow as Ryan is off school for the rest of the week, but its' always nice to have a 4 day weekend!!
Today we made treasure maps! We ripped A4 white paper around the edges, dyed the pages with stock cubes mixed with a small amount of water so they look aged, then drew maps!! I've enclosed pictuers of them being dyed then the final product! I'm impressed anyhow!
We also made models of treasure islands with Play Doh and watched "Pirates of the Carribean- at worlds end" See the theme!!!

Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!

Hi there!!!! Wishing all of you a VERY Happy Easter!!!!!
We have had a really nice day so far!! Nothing special just relaxing and enjoyable! Ryan received 6 Easter eggs ( 1 Huge egg from Sue and Colly!!) and cash to buy something, he was sooo made up!!
We have played on the Xbox ( I am SO useless!!) made lunch and Sue and Colly came round for a while, which was lovely :-) I love seeing family! I am catching up with online friends at the moment and watching "The Wizard of Oz" whilst the boys are watching a John Wayne WW2 film downstairs! Sometimes its' hard being the only girl!! I'm relegated to the bedroom at lot!!
Am making Lasagna, garlic bread and Salad for Tea.
Yesterday we had a little snow storm in the morning, however none stuck, Ryan was really disappointed as it has forecast snow for today and tomorrow but none has appeared so far( Although its cold enough!! BRRR), fingers crossed we'll get some tomorrow!
Yesterday I had a great time with my Mum! We drove into Cheshire to a gorgeous pub on the banks of a river that did lovely country cuisine.
I ate swordfish :-) Never tried it before and it was lovely. We also had dessert:-) This is unusual for us but we wanted to have an Easter treat!Scoffed raspberry swirl cheesecake with fresh cream, and a coffee, then the pair of us felt sick all afternoon because we were too full and uncomfortable!! ha ha!
We headed back to Mums for a evening watching TV whilst playing "Boggle" and "Upwords" :-)
Dad travelled to Weymouth yesterday to visit my Nan, he will stay until Monday. She is not so well, her health is declining faster than we would like and she is no longer eating properly, and mostly just sleeping, She turns 94 in 2 weeks!!
Well fellow bloggers, sorry for the delay this week, I haven't been up to much and have had a slovenly time of it :-( Need a rocket up my ass some weeks!!

More drama!

I am sooooo tired!!! I have had not one single second of sleep! :-( Last night, after I locked up the house I was in my bedroom on the computer whilst watching a film, was getting sleepy so decided to turn in, must have been 1.20am ish, just whilst I was setting my alarm and getting Bessie settled I heard a noise in my backyard, like bauckets falling over, I knew it wasn't wondy and cats wouldn't be able to push over the buckets so in a panic I switched on the upstairs and stairwell lights and started to make downstarirs, slowly. As I did so I heard someone shout a cuss and immediatly, knowing there was aomeone in my backyard I came back upstairs and rang the police. Hearing quite a noise in the back as I did so, the police were great and kept me on the phone until a police car ( Flashing lights and all) arrived and they knew I was safe, they arrived in less than 3 minutes, talk about good service. They checked outside and apart from items in my backyard being in disarray they found nothing. Whilst they had sniffer dogs out back they heard over their radios that 3 houses that are at the back of mine also called the police, so as well as the police car in my road, there were 3 also in the road behind!
I couldn't stop shaking, and after the police took statements and left, I sat up all night with all the lights on! I was too scared to goto bed. Frank kept texting me to ensure I was OK, I told him not to come home from work as nothing more could be done. Ryan slept through the lot!
I'll be having a very early night tonight to catch up on my sleep, heres hoping I'll actually be able to sleep though! Probably not!!!

Drama!

Well have had a dramatic day today!!! Decided to take Ryan to the park after lunch this afternoon, we were having a great time, playing on the swings, slides, and having fun on the kiddie assault course. Decided to play on the roundabout and started chasing each other which resulted in a game of tag.
All very well up until now, howver whilst playing tag, Ryan runs, face first into a huge solid steel post making up the frame of a swing.
He was inb a right state, screaming, I was holding his head, and boy, I have never seen anything swell so fast or so big in my life!!!!
He had a huge lump on his head the size of a satsuma!!
It was so prominant it looked like he had some sort of disfigurement.Rushed him home amid strange looks from passers by, and placed on it and ice cold cloth to try and reduce the swelling.
Thankfully it has reduced in size, however the lump is still eg like and very noticable, boys huh!!!!! Within minutes of arriving home he was running round again bashing into stuff!!! ggrrrrr
Then just before bed he picked at a mole on his chin which then bled continuously for 45 minutes! Went through 1 whole toilet roll just mopping up blood!
Was I glad when he went to bed!!!!!!
He's now off school for 2 weeks for the Easter holidays, goodness only knows whether he'll still be in one piece at the end!
Bad few days for me in many ways. hopefully things will improve from tomorrow onwards! Off to bed!

Pat on the back!

I'm patting myself on the back today as I have lost 2 stones!! ( 28lbs) Yippee!! Lost 5lb this week, was sooo happy! All that stepping and walking is paying off!! I stepped again last night and boy did it hurt!
Today we have an appointment with Ryans teacher at 5.15pm, its' parent/Teacher day where we go and discuss his schoolwork and progress :-)

Been to see Ryans' teacher and we are SO PROUD!! He is doing so well in school and is above average in all subjects, the teacher was so impressed with his progress they are putting him in for the Higher paper in his SATS exams in May . I could burst with pride!
As a reward for my weight loss treated myself to a portion of chips at lunchtime from the chippy ( !! I know!!) ate them, immediatly felt awful and spent the whole afternoon in agony with stomach cramps, diahorrea and ended up vomiting! Obviously the sudden injection of high fat didn't agree with me at all! Can't face eating a thing now, and although I feel better, I won't be cheating on my diet again for a while!
Why on earth I did it in the first place I'll never know!
The trials of a bad dieter eh!!

Catch up

Hey there!! I missed a day! oops!
On Sunday Ryan went to Chester Zoo with Stephanie and had a fab day! Came home with a tub of slime, gel filled tarantula and wonderful memories!
I had a productive day, changed and washed all the bedding, cleaned, made vegetable and lentil soup from scratch, balanced my finances and ( Get this!) got my exercise gear on and did 25 minutes on my step! Did it to the video jukebox on my cable TV, so "stepped" to Abba, Mika and some dirty dancing classics!
Of course, the combination of my size and lack of fitness meant that I thought I would die after just one song! But persevered I did and managed 25 mins of solid step. An achievement methinks! Must have sweat out 2 litres! ha ha!
On the advice of my Diet, health and fitness Guru ( ie. My Mum!) I'm to only exercise every other day, That's the kind of advice I like!
Watched Star Wars Episode 3 with Ryan later on ( Am becoming a weirdo Star Wars addict myself now!) and cooked scampi for the boys dinner.

MONDAY/TUESDAY 10th/11th MARCH


I was on a course in work today so it wasn't bad at all! Had quite a nice day!
We have been hit my Gales and heavy rain the last 2-3 nights and forecast for worse weather tonight, haven't been sleeping very well, imagining the roof will blow off or will leak etc etc Totally irrational!
Picked Ryan up from school and helped him with the "Riddle " he had to compose for homework, he chose a giraffe to write a riddle about because he'd liked them in Chester Zoo!
He's only 6 so its' not exactly Shakespeare! I had to laugh!

Well the teacher did say it didn't have to rhyme!

Its' Tuesday now, work was OK, although very busy as there was a program on TV last night about how incompetent the Inland Revenue are, so we had loads of related calls, not exactly complimentary!
Made Linguine bolognaise for dinner and did Ryan's' school reading with him before allowing him to watch a DVD. Will make him supper in 10 minutes and put him to bed then will don my "Fame" gear and attempt a 30 minute step class in my living room!
Hope my continued stepping doesn't cause a tidal wave in Australia!

Got the bug!

Can you believe I was out walking at 8.30am this morning!!!!!!!!!!!! How mad is that!! I stomped round good and proper with no-one round to witness my red and sweaty face!!
Felt great when I came back! Then settled down for a nice rest and breakfast (Porridge) with Ryan :-)
Shopping was delivered on time, and in with the order my brand new stockpot :-) How sad am I that I get excited over pans!!!! I enjoy making soup and stews and have wanted a proper stock pot for ages, so took the plunge and ordered it! Have already made a pan of vegetable and lentil soup!! Love it! Making my chicken soup tomorrow!
( Just remebered as I was typing that, that I need to send Krystal my recipe for Chicken soup.OOPS!!!)
After lunch, we took Ryan to Toys-R-Us, he got a soldier set, then went onto Speke Retail park, I bought some reebok classics :-), Frank bought a Fila Hoodie and Ryan got 3 Star Wars films in HMV, he's soooo into Star Wars just now!!
Have got to go and Iron Ryans outfit for tomorrow, he's off to Chester Zoo with Stephanie, did loads of ironing this morning too! Can't believe I forgot to do this 1 outfit!!
Best go and get plugged in!!

Walking weekend

Hello!! Thank goodness its the weekend!! Yippee!!!!
Work was not that bad today, I need to have a more positive attitude. Also I went out tonight and Walked!! For no other reason but to get exercise,it felt good!
Sadly, where I live is not exactly all mown lawns and picket fences, so whilst I'm investing in new trainers next week, I may need to also invest in a bullet proof vest! Or at least some sort of personal alarm.Got up a good rhythm to my "Oh what a night" 70's disco album on my MP3 player! I'm sure at one point I was "strutting" like John Travolta in Saturday night fever!! ha ha!
My shopping is due tomorrow between 11am-1pm so hope to get a walk in before it arrives, then hope to goto the park with Ryan in the afternoon.
Stephanie, Franks neice is taking Ryan to Chester Zoo on Sunday, he's excited!

work, work, work :-(

I hate work so much :-( Wish I could be a stay at home Mum, getting stressed already and I've only been back in 2 days!! Because I've been off sick, I've been interveiwed (Twice) and my doctors records sent for, also am on a warning for 12 months, so basically I cannot have any sick leave at all in the next 12 months or I'll be booted out of the door. And the throat problems are probably due to my voice being overused at work constantly anyway!
I'm glad to be back in the bosom of my team though, am enjoying being surrounded by friendly (Stressed!) faces!
Went to my local pub for lunch yeaterday with Carmel, it was great to catch up and have a good old natter! We're going to start walking to increase our execise quota, there a charity run/walk in June for Cancer care that we want to take part in with the rest of the girls on our team in work ( Its' girls only!) so we need to start training!
Weigh in today, lost 4lb. Thats 23lbs in total. Need to get to my 2 stone marker by Easter! Hopefully will notice more of a difference when I start exercising!

Snow!!!

Can you beleive I have just been snowed on whilst taking Ryan to school!! My black coat was white!!! I had no idea it was about to snow (Otherwise would have at least taken an umberella!) Its' all gone now, as quick as it came! Wierd! Today is my last day off work so I'm making the most of it! Jut letter writing and catching up on TV I've missed, basically relaxing as much as I can! Ended up ironing all night last night, so much for a relaxing Mothers day!

Mum is coming for lunch today and popping out to get a new shower curtain and towels as we are re-decorating the bathroom this weekend. Badly need the whole Living room doing but just don't have the ££'s at the moment, maybe nearer to the summer.

Mothers day.

Hello there! And for all you fellow Mums' Happy Mothers day!!
Haver had a nice relaxing day (Ish!)got 2 lovely cards off Ryan, one bought, one made in school, so cute as he's drawn a picture of me inside!
Did well for Gifts, got a nice Lacy cream bra ( Don't know if thats a fitting gift off a 6 year old child!), pair of silver hoop earrings and a lovely scented candle set in a unusual glass holder, with "To Mum love Ryan XX" inscribed on the glass!
So I did very well indeed!
After essential chores ( Changing all bedding, 4 loads of washing, Peeling potatoes, shredding a cabbage and cleaning the bathroom top to bottom) had lunch and I'm just writing letters, Cards and listening to Music (Mika!) Ryan is playing outside with Mia from next door ( I can hear them laughing and screeching!) and Frank is fiddling with the car.
There is a Pork Joint cooking for our roast dinner and I'm as happy as Larry!

The Force be with you!!!

Hellooooo! Well today, after our shopping had been delivered, we headed over to Seacombe ( On the Opposite side of the R. Mersey) to an attraction calleed "Spaceport" as we've never been. We had a fun time, Obviously its all about space, and when we first arrived you go in a launch pod just like in a space shuttle! Brill!
Ryan wasn't all that enthralled with the Space stuff, but there was a Space rollercoaster simulater which was great, we went on twice!! And also a Sci-Fi exhibition. Ryan was in his element as he has a thing for "Star Wars" at the moment! As you can see from the pictures there were all sorts of models/costumes from " Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Harry Potter", "ET", "Gremlins" and the "Marvel" comic characters. Spent ages, reading every single information board about Star Wars!! He's obsessed! This is all because of the Lego Star Wars game he has for the Xbox 360!
After "Spaceport" we dropped into the Cafe at Seacombe Ferry Terminal for a bite to eat, and Ryan had an hour in the Indoor Play Centre before heading home.
As I'm dieting, the boys had Pizza for tea and I made these little things from a Weightwatchers magazine recipe, ramekin dishes lined with wafer thin ham with an egg cracked into each with a pinch of salt and perrer, baked in the oven on low for 15 minutes, Lovely!! I had a Jacket Potato and salad with 2 of the ham egg cups :-) they look real pretty, like flowers!
Well best get to bed.

Mothers day tomorrow, told Ryan he'd have to make the breakfast , lunch and dinner, he said he couldn't as he'd burn his hands off!
Typical man!

Friday 29th Feb.Will he?? Won't he??

So Leap year!! Happy leaping to everyone!
Had a fab day! After dropping Ryan at school Frank and I went shoppingBought some new clothes for Ryan and various items needed, birthday, Easter presents etc.Had a lovely lunch in a pub on the outskirts of Liverpool, nice and relaxing after hours and hours shopping!
Then in the afternoon, Mum picked me up and we went shopping again! This time for Easter clothes for Ryan and my neices.
Had a succesful trip and finished with a short trip for groceries.
Headed back to Mums for our usual Friday night in! Made baked salmon parcels with finely chopped onion and tomato for dinner, with Jacket spuds. Then spent all night playing "Upwords" and "Boggle" our favourites!
Got home around 11.30pm, Ryan and Frank were in bed but the was a gorgeous little daffodil threesome waiting for me when I got in, Ryan had brought it home from School for Mothers day :-) I Love Daffodils!
