an observation

jus a wonder, how do you guys arrive at the IVLE homepage?
an observation tells me that different people do it differently.. not like how i assumed..

I made an asssumption that everyone will simply type "ivle.nus.edu.sg" at the address bar for thats what I usually do.
Or on a simpler note, just save it under Bookmarks or Favourites.

But I observed..
That actually my friend types IVLE+ NUS in the search bar of Google. Obviously the first result will be the right one.. and clicks on that link to bring her to the homepage of IVLE.

That my lecturer actually types "nus.edu.sg" in the address bar which brings him to the NUS homepage where there is a link to IVLE.

So how do U do it?

心情愉快

Went for Samuel's 21st birthday party at his house yesterday.
Alot of friends, from AHS, TJC, Seasports, NS, church and relatives came. Wah... So many people! Such a blessed boy. But most of them were glued to the TV set watching the match between Msia and Sg.. Haha.
Only a few from 1703 went.. but finally after 2 years after graduation I finally met Cody! We dug out pictures from jc and saw how all of us had changed! (: for the better.
Zhengyi drove us home in his dad's lorry and since the back was not sheltered, the wind was blowing directly at us but this made us very 心情愉快! The accompany and the breeze was the cause of it all! We were all laughing throughout the journey. (: Then it rained suddenly on PIE. So we took out umbrella and hilarious it was! Anyway, kudos to Zhengyi's driving skills! But.. due to his horlan-ness... he constantly needs someone to tell the directions to him! So was quite hilarious to see how Jianxin was shouting from the back to tell him the directions to get out of the private estate maze. And why why I know why he needs a walking street directory beside him... Cus they say he doesnt even know how to get to Marina Sq.. BY FOOT. Oh my.

Last last.. I like the wallet that we gave to Samuel so much! Then again, I think I've always liked presents that I give...

I woke up today full of anticipation.

First, to check my NUS xchange account for replies from Prof Phan regarding my project. But no! He hasnt replied. I wonder why he replies so promptly to Sandip and is so sluggish in replying to me. Nono.. he doesnt reply me. He replies to Sandip and cc it to me. Dont tell me he is 重男轻女. This i cannot tolerate.

Second, Huimin and I planned a trip to WWW today in order to utilise my free tickets. I woke up today only to see an sms saying that she feels very tired and wishes to cancel the trip. Anything too last min, I dislike. So disappointed. So i finally decided that maybe I really cant find anyone to go with me before the tickets expire on 3rd Feb ( and in view that I've 2 tests next week..... ) :( So.. I have decided to give them away.. rather than leaving them to rot in my wallet. To you who are reading now.... are you interested? 2 tickets worth i think 12++ each! First come first serve. ( Somehow I ve got a gut feeling that they ll continue rotting in my wallet and I wont be able to give it away. :o(

Last sem i took sc1101 that came across like sc4101.
I think this sem's gem2000 has readings that constantly displays the chim-ness of gem4000. I've been trying hard whole day making side notes on what each paragraph means but at the end of it all.. they just seem senseless, not to say the sentence structures are so difficult to comprehend.
If the purpose of such readings are to educate/inform people more about a topic, why then did they write in english that reads like italian, french, german and wad-not to me. Why cant they write like normal textbooks?

I finally emailed the prof regarding my interest in UROP.. but i haven told Angeline about my decision on nt gg for CSC special project if i get into UROP.. the only reason for the delay is that I do feel quite bad for agreeing to run for OC together yet engaging myself in other project.
Academic, future-wise: UROP
Interest-wise: UROP
Friendship-wise: CSC
Oh no.. I think I better discuss with the prof regarding the time committment for UROP ..if i do get his approval for participation, so that I can plan around the schedule and decide whether time will allow for CSC.
Guess VIP will have to wait till next May.

Followed by the thumb drive, laptop, orgchem text, library books incidents ( in chronological order) ... I left my ear phones in the computer cluster today..
I am sad over losing it. I used to be quite upset over losing a pen or pencil though they are not expensive stuff. I wont buy an identical one to replace it, its not worth it. I wont buy something lao-pok to lan(4) yu(1) chong(1) shu(4).. but im nt pampering my ears with something to ex too. See what shall catch my eye tomorrow.

Bottomline: I hope i can find them tomorrow. Believe in the integrity of engine students and... argh.. i jus dont like it that i lost something..

Rains. Faints. Quick Updates (:

I was having mixed feelings when I woke up today to see this crappy weather as described by mesi.
I told myself that I will not start any studying unless i finished my storybook. So i stayed at home whole day today, thanks to the rain huh, and finished it up. Wells, not exactly whole day. But yeah, I finished reading it and thought it was a well-structured and interesting book :) So at night it took me longer than usual to finish reading a 10pg LSM article: Birth of Complex Cells and did a summary page on it.
I regretted having pizza for dinner. Because my sis agreed to treat us to pizza, i volunteered to make the call and when they reject to deliver because of the rain, I dont know why i readily agreed to pick em up at TM at a discount of 20%. 好有闲情逸致. Haha. And now Im feeling so full and nauseous after dinner. But I din eat alot! Dont know why.
Channel 5 played the premiere of Day After Tomorrow, today. I din manage to catch it cos I was out picking up the pizzas..so i recorded it. I dislike mediacorp's tv schedules on Sunday. It simply has NOTHING interesting. Ok, perhaps for occasional english movies.
I'm returning ct's Be With You tmr, so my sis watched it for the final last time. I happened to join her in front of the tv set, and she happened to be viewing it with chinese subtitles. I was rather amused to find out the Mio's chinese name is 阿菱. You guys know how rare the 2nd character of my chinese name is.. u see pple with 零灵玲... but mine is so rare. Hence, I was rather amused. But I dont want to be so kelian like her.
Oh and I did my assignment 2 for gem2000. The item that i window-shopped for was Biore Perfect Oil Control Facial Wash. Fyi, Carrefour was the most expensive store compared to Watsons and Guardian. Haha, I wasnt expecting that actually.
Went for CSC day on Saturday.. took care of the little kids again. This time was a boy who kept running about. Had to chase after him at the Arts Forum. Imagine chasing him at the big big stairs at Forum, tired lehs.. And he refuses to tell us even if he is going to the toilet. Made us chase after him until the door of the toilet. So hyperactive. I'm sure I was a nice little girl when i was their age. And cute too. (: Realised I dont really know how to take care of the elderly.. Maybe I should learn. Anw, was feeling quite undecided whether I should run for OC for the special projects. Hmm..

Life's abit boring.. but thats because tutorials haven set in.

the lecturer posted some questions and we are expected to answer them and submit them to the workbin.

a) You are travelling with three separate items: a hawk, a three-week old chick, and a few grains of corn in an open bag. The grains of corn in the bag constitute one item. You come across a foot-bridge which you are allowed to cross with only one item at a time. How will you safely cross the bridge with all the three items. CLEARLY STATE YOUR ASSUMPTIONS AND EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER.

Assumptions: 1) Hawk eats only chick and not corn. 2) Chick only eats corn. 3) The hawk does not fly away or the chick does not wander away when I am not around.

In first trip, bring chick over. In second trip, bring the corn over and on the way back bring the chick back. In third trip, bring the hawk over. Finally in the fourth trip, bring the chick over. All three items will be safely brought over.

b) There are 20 pheasants (birds) on a tree and you fire a gun to kill one of them. How many are left? (EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER AND YOUR ASSUMPTIONS

Assumption: All birds on the tree are capable of flying.
Ignoring the dead bird, no birds are left on the tree because they were frightened by the gunshot and flew away.

Funny, i was able to view the answers of the rest who submitted. Though everyone got the same answer.. almost everyone had different assumptions! i thought it was fun! Haha.. what will be your assumptions?

and then.. he had assignment 2 for us to be completed before 16/01/07 and it must be submitted to the workbin again..

ASSIGNMENT FOR LECTURE 2

Go for window shopping with intention of finding the price of a particular item, e.g. HP Financial calculator, model 12C. Each student should choose a different item. Visit three shops in the same shopping mall/arcade/complex that sell the item that you have chosen. Record the price at which the item sells in each of the shops that you visited. Post your findings in the workbin. The following details are required:

i) Your name & matriculation number.

ii) The ITEM chosen for the window shopping.

iii) Date & time of the visit (Window shopping must be done on the same day).

iv) Names of the shops visited

v) Price at each shop.

I was joking to chongtang maybe the item i ll shop for will be a pilot pen. Then, i ll go to Popular and Times Bookshop in TM.. Haha.. but no 3rd shop in TM sells stationery alr..

This sem is gonna to be quite free with tuesdays starting at 2 and wednesdays free! Woot!

Yesterday was first day of the sem.. and i skipped half of the MLE lecture.. cos he was talking stories non-stop.. Starting from why we need to study Materials Science Engineering.. then moving on to why the promising yr1mech engine students need to study this.. then to why chem engineers need to study this and when i left i think he covered these 2 departments only.. Im so not waiting for him to move to: why bioengineers need to study this..blah blah blah
So zj n i left. When I walked to the ISB stop.. I saw Nhat Linh boarding the bus and heading back to her hall too! Tsk.

Maths lecture was equally "drift-able"..

Why why why.. No more interesting lecturers like the C.c Ko?
I'm pinning my hopes on lsm2103 later today.. Becos in his introductory ppt lecture notes.. there was a slide teaching us how to print notes.! Mus click: Handouts -> 6 per page -> Pure Black and White.
If he is going to deliver an interesting lecture later.. he's CUTE.
If not.. he's DUH.

I think I sounded qt happy/high school has started.
Actually.. I'm a little. Haha

I keep telling myself tomorrow's a better day, day after day. im like fishing for glad little nothings amongst the mundane to make each passing day/month/yr a more worthwhile history.

Went for tuiton today.
She had a CME assignment to do and she asked me for ideas. Instructions is to draw a picture that motivates you or someone to 克服困难，勇往直前。
I told her to draw a night sky full of stars and write: 天上没有我们抓不到的星星. -> points to blog header.
Then.. she said that I grabbed it from a movie, so its not valid.
Hence I suggested drawing a rainbow with a sun and wrote: 雨后一定会有美丽的彩虹。
Yes, i ended up drawing the rainbow for her.
Now.. tts how cliche it is.. but who hasnt held on to this belief and before.. n thats how strong certain words jus works to power up our will and determination.
And for another 老掉牙的 saying.. for every up there's a down. :)

Chalet was great. Thanks Clement for the brownies and taking the trouble to book the room..and joycie for the discount coupon, Weixiang,ct,jeffery for setting up the fire and us us us girls as the umbrella models..and also a special mention for jeffery for the 有缘的鸡翅膀.. haha.
