Super Soaker Spit Bubbles

Sketty's new trick

He likes to make these silly spit bubble faces all day long. I wish I could video him so you could all hear the sounds he makes while spitting. He's so funny. He's also kinda like a little spider. You know how spiders always leave a trail of web wherever they go? That's my little Sketty. He always leaves a trail of drool wherever he is. The kids are always squealing about getting slimed by him. But we love our little slime-ball.

Toofs

I thought this little guy had an ear infection (tugging on his ear, not sleeping, didn't want to be put down). And then out popped these two little white buds on his bottom gums. This is 4 months earlier than the other 3 kids.

Hudson was smothering him and he said "Oh Mom! Sketty has two little toofs down there!"

Brynn lost her second tooth finally. Unfortunately the new one is/was already coming up and it is NOT where it should be. Hopefully her two permanent teeth will go through some magical transformation and end up in the right spot. Bryson's were coming in pretty jacked up and now they're perfectly straight on bottom. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

I have had a cracked tooth since before the baby was born. I was hoping it would hold up for another 30 days till we get our dental insurance (woo-hoo) but it did not. Last night I went in to floss and the corner of my tooth fell off. Hud was so excited. He ran and got the tooth fairy pillow and said "Oh good job Mom! Now the tooth fairy's gonna give you some dollars!" He was pretty stoked for me. Wish I was that happy about it.

Hungry Boy

I have been trying to get this boy to eat for about a month now and every time I whip out the baby cereal he starts bawling and gagging and throwing a fit. So I tried some baby food the other day and it was quite a different story.

See how he's holding my hand? He couldn't get it fast enough.

Sweet Sketty-5 months

At 5 months Stetson loves to:

#1. Bounce - all. the. time. He spends a lot of time in this little jumper and he can get going pretty good. The kids complain sometimes that he's too noisy. I think its cute though.

#2. Suck on toes - He loves to play with his feet but he's got too much girth when he's dressed, so it only works when he's naked. Originally he started grabbing for his toes and he'd pull his legs up and hold on to his feet. Now when his diaper comes off his hand is right there to grab . . . other parts : )

#4. His big baby bed - we finally took him out of the bassinet and he's liking his port-a-crib at the end of our bed. He's still a really good sleeper and wakes up so happy no matter how long (or short) his naps are. We usually just see his little head bobbing or hear him scratching the sides. With the other kids I remember being a little disappointed when they'd wake up from short naps. Sketty's such a good baby and he's so fun right now that I love when he wakes up and wants his mommy. I just can't resist him.

#5. Smiles - Stetson is the happiest baby. He smiles at everyone and he's not at all picky about who's lovin' on him. At church the other day an old man was walking by and he said "Oh, I just can't resist him. He's so cute I have to come squeeze him." We get stopped a lot when we're out and he always gives a big grin to everyone.

#6. Sleeping - Even though he hasn't been sleeping great lately (teeth) he loves a good nap in someone's arms and he falls asleep so easily. I can still go lay him down when he's tired, walk out and he'll be asleep within a few minutes. I so love that.

#7. Moving! - This little guy is going to be crawling in no time. He can spin all over the place and he's pretty good at scooting backwards. He can do the plank pose really good too. He's just starting to pull his knees in and go up on fours before face-planting. We did see him on hands and knees rocking back and forth the other day. He gets pretty noisy while he's moving around, screeching and blowing spit bubbles and stuff. I love all his little noises. I can't wait for him to be crawling around the house. Its been 3 years since we've had one of those and I'm looking forward to this next stage.

My Funny Valentine

Last week was Huddy's birthday week. Tanner was gone all week so we did some presents on Sunday before he left. Then on Monday he got to have a sleepover at Grandma Connie's with Cade. Tuesday at school he got to bring treats. Thursday was his party. So now the kid is totally confused as to why we're not still celebrating his birthday. Four days wasn't enough.

For his birthday he got a shaving kit. Super cute to see him being so precise with his little fake razor. He would like to shave every morning if I let him. And so would all the other kids. Its the new favorite thing to do around here.

Opening presents at Grandma's before Tan left. Sketty was interested in all the commotion. And mostly I just had to take a picture.

I saw these cupcakes in a magazine at Halloween and I came across them again when I was trying to think of a party theme. So cute and the 'Monster' theme was pretty easy.

When you are dealing with 4 year-olds and you're by yourself its best to keep the party small and simple. We made these 'Monster Hats' with felt and hotglue-some of my favorite things!

And then we all went out for bubbles. I did have a few other things planned but because they are boys and they found the light sabers it was better to just let 'em go.

Hudson loves being 4 now and feels pretty big about it. He loves being in preschool and having friends. Sunbeams is a blast for him and he comes home with all the funniest things to say about his church lessons. We love our little funny man and love that he's part of our family.

Family Funnies

Brynn stepped on a nail on our way home from school and it stuck into her foot about an inch and half. It was pretty bad. Later she said, "Now I know how Jesus felt. Why would He let someone DO something like that to Him?" And then she started crying again.

After Brynn relaxed from the nail-in-the-foot incident she was showing off her wound and Hud goes "Oh man! I can't see all your GUTS."

Hudson prefers hairspray to "gel-0" and he likes his hair either a "ho-mawk" or "way-goo-wer".

We were all getting sick and Tanner said something about mom's not being allowed to get sick . . . 'because what happens when moms get sick?' And Bryson didn't miss a beat. "We all DIE!!!!"

I was vacuuming and Hudson offered to help me because he wants to "be respectable and follow Jesus." Someone's been listening in Sunbeams!!!

I sometimes call Baby my little sugar plum. Hud took that and went to Sugar Plum Fairy, then dropped the 'sugar' and 'plum' and just called him little "Fairy Boy" for a few days. We told him lets not call him that.

The kids were watching the Karate Kid (the one with Mr. Miyagi, not Jackie Chan) and Tanner said "Oh this is the original one." Brynn said, "Yeah this is the one from the Olden Days."

Bryson went on a field trip and was eating lunch with his teacher when she said "Your mom knows we're not going to be gone for a month right?" So when he got home he told me not to pack him such a big lunch all the time. I asked how much of it he ate. He smiled and said "Well . . . all of it. Duh!"

Brynn was mad at me for doing her hair not the way she wanted so she informed me that "[her] morning was going just fine until [I] came along and ruined it. Thanks a lot!"

I was in the bath with Hudson and Stetson when the baby peed and Hud goes "Its okay if he pees Mom. I already did too." Awesome.

Hudson's favorite time is 20:40 and his favorite number is 16-20. Hmmm . . .

Our neighbor girl was over one day and her phone rang. Brynn said "Who is that and what do they want?"

Changing the baby one day Hudson looked at him and said "Oh Mom, Sketty has two little warts on his tummy." Um, those are called nipples buddy.

When Hudson was watching me change a dirty diaper he gagged a little and said "Ugh! I just threw up in my mouth a little bit."

Tanner came home from lunch with a buddy one day and told me their whole conversation about "the Bachelor" at lunch. I almost peed my pants because it was almost the same conversation I had had the night before at Book Club. Cracks me up that guys talk about the same things.

Busy Bryson

Since Christmas break Bryson's life has been a whirlwind. First was his birthday. 8 is obviously a big birthday in Mormondom. He was baptized the following weekend. My sister and some of her family were able to come out for his baptism and to see the baby for the first time. The baptism was wonderful and Bryson was so proud he was grinning from ear to ear. After the bishop called him up to the pulpit on Sunday he was walking back to our seat and I could see him high 5-ing several people with a big smile all the way. He was super stoked about his very own scriptures and has really accepted his new responsibilities as a baptized member of the Church . . . . not counting the fact that we missed Fast Sunday yet again this month.

After his baptism he was able to have a birthday party with a bunch of little buddies. He had a blast but I forgot to get pictures of that part of the day.

Now that he's 8 he gets to go to Cub Scouts, which he has been looking forward to since he was about 3 years old. Seriously. Just so happens that I got called to be Den Leader over the Wolves and Bears. I figured with 3 boys this calling was bound to happen sooner or later. Bryson gave me all of about 30 seconds to get his whole uniform and start working on his achievements. This is at the Pack mtg last week where he got his Bobcat award.

Don't be jealous of my hot scout shirt. You know you all want one. Tanner has a matching one too since he is now SCOUT MASTER!!! He's finding out how much he doesn't know about scouting. And he's really not looking forward to the overnight campouts that are required every month. Neither are the rest of us.

Cute little boys. He could have chosen to sit at the rowdy table with the rest of his pack but he wanted to sit with his mom and baby instead. Awww, so sweet.

He also started wrestling in January. This was his very first meet and he did great. Won both matches. He was not gonna be caught dead in a singlet at first, then decided after this meet that he would wear one.


Bryson is a solid, hefty little boy. He weighs about 82 lbs in 2nd grade. Unfortunately for him you have to wrestle by weight, which means he usually gets stuck with kids who are way older than him, like 5-7th graders. These boys are usually more skilled and have been wrestling a lot longer. B still does great though, even through the frustration. He had 2 Saturday tournaments where he lost his first match, got super pissed and had a good tantrum, and then won his next 2 matches. He got a medal for the first tournament and that made everything better.


One cool thing he can say though is that he has wrestled the son of a rock star. Papa Roach is a rock band and Jacoby (lead singer) and his family live around here. Bryson wrestled his kid Mikail twice and lost both times. On Saturday he was pretty emotional about it. Grandma Roach came up and gave him a big hug and stood there with her arm around him for a little while and then came and chatted with me. Then after their kid was done with all his matches they stayed around and cheered for my little man. Jacoby likes B because his brother's name is Bryson also.

So now Bryson can say that he knows a Rock Star and that he cheered for him at wrestling. I'm half tempted to ask him if he gives guitar lessons. He's a really really nice guy. All the tatts are way deceiving.

Now we have a break for a few weeks before baseball starts and then we'll be busy all over again.
