Dranytsia

[edit]

Hello. Thank you for this and that. I need to make similar changes to Balkivtsi, Chernivtsi Oblast, to Nesvoia, and to Poliana, Dniester Raion, Chernivtsi Oblast. Could you tell what I did to run afoul of the filter in my edit to Dranytsia, so that I can avoid the same thing happening again with those three other prospective edits, please? 0DF (talk) 13:14, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@User:0DF Hey, the issue was completely unrelated to the filter hit, I can't really tell you what went wrong because the filter is private, but feel free to reach out to me if you have any more issues; it should be an uncommon thing. – LuniZunie(talk) 13:24, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll do that. Could you tell me why there are such things as private filters? What are they for? (I'm not asking you to tell me what this specific filter is.) 0DF (talk) 13:31, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
This specific filter is built for people who repeatedly disrupt the encylopedia, if they knew how the filter worked, it would be easy for them to get around it =) – LuniZunie(talk) 13:33, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK, that makes sense. Unfortunately, as foreseen, the same thing happened with my edit to Balkivtsi, Chernivtsi Oblast. Should I report that on Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives, or are you happy to deal with it here? 0DF (talk) 13:47, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'll deal with it =) – LuniZunie(talk) 13:50, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
 Done – LuniZunie(talk) 13:51, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I'll deal with Nesvoia and Poliana on another day. If the same issue arises again, I hope you won't mind it if I post about it here for your attention. Thanks for your help. 0DF (talk) 13:52, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, no worries, always willing to help (and if I can't, I have enough talk page stalkers who can) – LuniZunie(talk) 13:53, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
:-) Thanks. 0DF (talk) 13:54, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. My edits to Nesvoia and to Poliana, Dniester Raion, Chernivtsi Oblast did indeed both trigger the filter again. Would you mind rubber-stamping those edits for me, please? Thanks IA. 0DF (talk) 12:43, 13 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

 Done – LuniZunie(talk) 19:01, 13 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help. I do not foresee having to bother you with a similar request again. (But what do I know?) 0DF (talk) 12:57, 16 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
No problem! – LuniZunie(talk) 13:00, 16 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

RfC: Geographic disambiguation of school article titles in the United States

[edit]

Thank you

[edit]

I saw your request to keep discussion out of the case filing so I will say this here: thank you for gently clarifying the sock list thing (I used a question mark instead of a full stop when I said "It's easier?" which came across as more than a little snarky). aesurias (she/her) (talk) 00:12, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Of course, yeah it's against usual conventions but on both WP:SPI and m:SRG it's fine to do so with a note. – LuniZunie(talk) 00:16, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Good to know! Thank you, aesurias (she/her) (talk) 00:31, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Aesurias & @LuniZunie: Not sure if this is what y'all are discussing, but I will say that you can modify the {{socklist}} template to indicate that you in particular added a listing, which some (perhaps only me? perhaps others?) would prefer. So for instance, {{socklist|1=Staraction|2=StaractionBot|note2=added by Staraction}} renders as Just make sure you don't use the four tildes because you'd get caught in the socklist too. Staraction (talk · contribs) 00:32, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Didn't know that, thanks! – LuniZunie(talk) 00:35, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

How do you change your userpage to make the header be your signature?

[edit]

I want to try this too, because having "User:Dualcerb" is kinda annoying and your userpage looks a lot better. dualcerbtalk 13:37, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) He uses the magic word DISPLAYTITLE. You could try something like {{DISPLAYTITLE:<b style="color:black;background-color:skyblue;border-radius:7px 7px 7px 7px;padding:2px 5px;">dualcerb</b>}}, which would make your userpage header look like this: dualcerb This is slightly modified from your signature to add rounded corners to the right edge.
Note that this will not show up in mobile view, as Minerva Neue appears to override the display title of userpages. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 14:26, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can't get it to show up unless I do User:Dualcerb, what am I doing wrong? dualcerbtalk 14:43, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@SuperPianoMan9167 ping oops dualcerbtalk 14:43, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's supposed to be like that, DISPLAYTITLE is limited so that the title of the page must equal the text shown exactly. The way to get around this is by wrapping the text you don't want in a &lt:span&rt; tag, and setting the style attribute to "position:absolute;top:-99999px;" which sends the text way off into the sky. – LuniZunie(talk) 14:50, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
(You can also always just steal the wikitext on my page) – LuniZunie(talk) 15:09, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Two barnstars for you!

[edit]
The Technical Barnstar
I promised you two barnstars if you created a homebrewed version of Uno within 24 hours of giving that challenge. I had quite high expectations, and as always, you blew those high expectations out of the water. Here is barnstar one of two...
The Special Barnstar
...and in this second barnstar, I'm stepping back and want to talk about how incredible an editor you are. The amount of tools you create—from WikiShield all the way down to SRG-Responder—puts me in awe. I wish I had a tenth of the technical skill and talent that you do. But, somehow, that's not anywhere close to your strongest quality. The thing I appreciate the most about you is that, despite all of the horrific edits you are exposed to on a daily basis, you have a heart made of gold. My friend, it is an honor and a privilege to call you such. Keep being the incredible human that you are.

Yours very truly, HouseBlaster (talk • edits • he/they) 05:31, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Awh this is so sweet House, honestly going to make me tear up. I absolutely love hanging with you and am honoured to get to know you and be so close with you. I have to admit, this is probably the first time I am genuinely happy I have dyslexia... who knows where we would be if we didn't have that to connect over at first. Thank you so much again, it really means a lot =') – LuniZunie(talk) 16:44, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Now you're making me cry! I'm so glad that we have something to bond over, Luni =D HouseBlaster (talk • edits • he/they) 20:52, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Special Barnstar
Luni, you are truly one special Wikipedian. From a script used by countless vandal-fighters to one that is now a GoldRomean must-have, your technical abilities never cease to amaze me. What is also boundless is your kindness—I'm so glad to have been able to get to know you over the past months. It is always a joy spending time with you—whether that be splerking alongside each other, teaming up against the Arbitration Committee's scandalous board game cheating, or just hanging out in vc. As promised, for inserting fun easter eggs into the aforementioned Uno adaptation to allow us to play with our very own house rules (and to ensure that the House can never win), please enjoy this barnstar—the first of the 2,001-or-so I owe you.

All the best, GoldRomean (talk) 23:00, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!!! I really have enjoyed it so much too, you're absolutely awesome and I appreciate what you do a lot =D – LuniZunie(talk) 23:13, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Boo!

[edit]
Zahrazamedahmedi has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the preceding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!

'"On Psych, A USA Network TV series Episode 8, The Tao of Gus, Season 6, Shawn refers to pumpkins as "Halloween Apples" because he thinks all round fruits are a type of apple.

If Trick-or-treaters come your way, add {{subst:Halloween apples}} to their talkpage with a spoooooky message!
