Hello! I'm Joyous! I saw your note at this AfD discussion, asking why the merge hasn't happened yet. Simply put, it's because it's harder to complete a merge than it is to suggest that a merge needs to be done. People at AfDs like to suggest "MERGE," then walk away, satisfied.
Anyone can merge the two articles. You're welcome to give it a whirl yourself, if you like. If you have any questions about merging, I'd be glad to answer, or send you to someone who can help. Joyous! Noise! 04:18, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Then who can I merge it myself? OWaunTon (talk) 04:40, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- How can you merge it? A merge is basically opening the edit window on the article that is being merged (the "source article") copying the information that is going to be merged, and pasting it into the article that is "receiving" it (the "target" article). The slightly more formal instructions are here. The instructions look complicated, but really, Step #1 is the most important: moving the information to the target article and leaving a clear edit summary like the example shows.
- I would be happy to take care of all of the "housekeeping" that goes on in Step 2 and beyond. I have a sort of app that automates the whole process once the information has been moved. Joyous! Noise! 04:52, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Well it's going to this list of Create TV affiliates, I think by table. OWaunTon (talk) 04:54, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

- Yes, the information from List of Create TV affiliates (by U.S. state) should go to List of PBS member stations. Joyous! Noise! 05:01, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- I mean, the subchannels for Create wouldn't be on it, which is fine.
- So basically the article should be deleted if that. OWaunTon (talk) 05:03, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, the information from List of Create TV affiliates (by U.S. state) should go to List of PBS member stations. Joyous! Noise! 05:01, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
Would it work to make a whole new section about the Create TV stuff, with its own heading, on the PBS article? Joyous! Noise! 05:07, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- I'll work on it when I wake up tomorrow. OWaunTon (talk) 05:09, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- And could you help with this process? OWaunTon (talk) 02:07, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sure. Joyous! Noise! 03:21, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- I'll start some and you can finish and add to it. OWaunTon (talk) 03:36, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sounds like a plan. It's getting late here (West Coast, USA), so I will take a look tomorrow. Joyous! Noise! 03:49, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- And do it ASAP with redirect link for Create TV affiliates for it and add before it gets reverted. OWaunTon (talk) 03:55, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

- Here List of PBS member stations#List of Create TV affiliates (by U.S. state). OWaunTon (talk) 03:50, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Nice work getting the "under construction" template in there. That helps. Is the PBS station article ready to be turned to a redirect? If so, I can do that right now. Joyous! Noise! 03:58, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Not until all the Create TV affiliates and copied and pasted (and updated if needed) from the article to PBS Member stations, then it'll be ready and it's all you cuz I'm editing on mobile right now until Monday. OWaunTon (talk) 04:00, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Are you good to edit now? OWaunTon (talk) 13:25, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

If it's ok with you, I'm inclined to copy the entire Create TV list and paste it into the PBS article (minus what you already added for Alaska and Alabama), then do any edits from there. Joyous! Noise! 13:46, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- And yes, that's correct. OWaunTon (talk) 13:47, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, the content is pasted into the PBS article, the CREATE article is now a redirect, and all of the talk pages have had their notices adjusted. Joyous! Noise! 13:54, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Good, but you need to add the other states not added please. OWaunTon (talk) 21:09, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Could you help add new stations not on the Create TV affiliates like Texas, Wisconsin, etc? OWaunTon (talk) 22:19, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Honestly, the article doesn't really fall within my editing interests. I was happy to help with the merging process, but expansion would be best left to others who have an interest in that area. Joyous! Noise! 22:50, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Waxworker. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List of programs broadcast by DejaView, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 20:18, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- I've seen the show on the channel, so I don't need a citation because I have video proof. OWaunTon (talk) 20:25, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- A reliable source is necessary for verification, please see WP:BURDEN. Personal experience is not a reliable source - WP:VERIFYOR states that "Wikipedia's content is determined by previously published information rather than by the personal beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it". Waxworker (talk) 21:01, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Very well. OWaunTon (talk) 21:03, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

- Please see WP:CIRCULAR - it is similarly unsourced in that section. Waxworker (talk) 21:13, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Lone Eagle Entertainment moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Lone Eagle Entertainment. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Waqar💬 19:53, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi OWaunTon. Thank you for your work on WEZK-LP. Another editor, Utopes, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Why was this moved? It's a redirect with no substantial history and has existed for 19 years.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Utopes}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
Utopes (talk / cont) 21:29, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- I explained the reason to Utopes at WP:DISCORD, but even in a case like this, it's just best to create a new redirect (see WP:MOVEREDIRECT). Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 21:46, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for bureaucratship
[edit]Hi OWaunTon. My apologies, but I had to revert your request for bureaucratship, as it was incorrectly added. To make a request you need to create a new page for your request and then include it in the page you edited, rather than adding your request directly. However, to be a bureaucrat it is expected that you have at least spent some time as an admin, and while it is an important job, it is also a very limted one - the main task for bureaucrats is to add or revmove permissions for administrators, and to close requests for admin. You would need a lot more experience before you would have a solid chance of passing. - Bilby (talk) 04:06, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- I didn't know, it's kinda hard to request cuz I didn't know exactly where to put it. OWaunTon (talk) 13:34, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- It is a bit confusing. I think it is great that you want to help out beyond being an editor. But honestly, as an admin, I think I could be just as useful if I did what you do. Creating new articles, uploading images, and removing vandalism are the actions that make Wikipedia work. Without people like you this project would fail completly. I think you may make a great admin in the future, but for now I would recommend doing what you are doing. It took me six years to run for admin, and I am still unsure if it was a good idea or not. If you want to run, I'd suggest seeking the advice of people who are good at nominating admins and follow what they recommend. People like User:theleekycauldron and User:Worm That Turned are people I would turn to, but if you have a look at successful requests you will see a number of nominators who are really good. I am not good, but they are. Nevertheless, I have spent long enough here to realise that people like you make Wikipedia work far more than people like me. :) - Bilby (talk) 13:56, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]
Hello OWaunTon! Your additions to WMBP-LD have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 15:54, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Urban Air Adventure Park
[edit]Hello OWaunTon, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Urban Air Adventure Park, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Urban Air Adventure Park.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Uncle Bash007}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Removing sub channels from market templates
[edit]Why are you removing the subchannels from TV market listings? Was there a general consensus done that this was a good idea in a discussion or are you doing it on your own? Necrat (talk) 16:50, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Um, because the station was changed to a new network according to RabbitEars and I updated accordingly. I don't even know why this is a concern. OWaunTon (talk) 16:55, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I think I am confusing you. On pages like this one, Template:Atlanta_TV, the listing used to show the main and sub channels. You've gone through and deleted all the sub channels. Why? Are you doing this because of a change in the wiki policy based on discussion, or doing it on your own? Necrat (talk) 00:18, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- I haven't touched that. OWaunTon (talk) 00:20, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Disregard, I see others are doing it too. I'd like to find the discussion where it was decided to do this on these pages. It's a terrible decision. Thank you for your time. Necrat (talk) 00:21, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I'm YoungForever. I noticed that you have been adding short descriptions to articles. However, the short descriptions you added are too long to be effective, such as at All American: Homecoming. The guideline is that short descriptions should ideally be under 40 characters long, and no longer than needed. For more information, see the short description guidelines. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you. — YoungForever(talk) 05:21, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Well, @YoungForever, I did for some syndicated shows as well. I had no idea you couldn't put the years either, especially since some pages from network TV shows have them, so you might want to fix those if that's not allowed. OWaunTon (talk) 14:50, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. My thinking is that because Georgia is ambiguous, it makes sense to have U.S. in the short description. The auto-generated one will do this. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 03:10, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- Then all of the Georgia TV stations (besides Atlanta) description should be updated to have "U.S. state" in it. OWaunTon (talk) 03:13, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to WABC-TV. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.
You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. BlueboyLINY (talk) 19:51, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Non-free use File:RayCombs.jpg
[edit]
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically File:RayCombs.jpg, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:51, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hi OWaunTon. Just further clarifying why I've removed File:RayCombs.jpg from Family Feud#Hosts and announcers. While it's true that JJMC89 bot removed the file for not having a non-free use rationale, there are other additional reasons that the bot doesn't assess as to why the file's use in that particular way wouldn't comply with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. Non-free images of dead individuals can be used for primary identification puproses in the main infoboxes or a the tops of stand-alone Wikipedia articles about the indiviuals in question as long as all ten non-free content use criteria are satisfied, but other types of non-free use tend to be much harder to justify in terms of said criteria. Providing a non-free use rationale is WP:JUSTONE (WP:NFCC#10c is actually just part of one criterion) of these criteria; although it would stop the bot from removing the file again, it doesn't automatically make the non-free use valid. Non-free images are pretty much never allowed to be used in a gallery markup per WP:NFG because such use is almost always WP:DECORATIVE; even without the gallery, though, there would still issues with both WP:NFCC#1 (WP:FREER) and WP:NFCC#8 (WP:NFC#CS).Wikipedia's non-free use policy is quite restrictive by intent, and it requires non-free content be used as little as possible whenever possible. A single use of non-free content is already considered rather exception, and additional uses of that same content, therefore, tend to be seen as being even more exceptional and requiring a even stronger justification. Although Combs is mentioned by name in that section of the "Family Fued" article, a non-free image isn't really needed for readers to understand a two sentence paragraph about him when the same image can be seen by readers in the stand-alone article about him. Wikilinks are considered a more than sufficient free equivalent to another content use as explained in item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI in a case like this, which makes any additional use of the file in this type of way pretty much impossible justify. You might of course disagree with this assessment, and you're welcome to seek other opinions at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC, but I do really believe there's almost a zero chance of anyone being able to establish a consensus in favor of this type of non-free use based on how relevant Wikipedia policy has been applied over the years; otherwise, I wouldn't have simply just removed the file from the article and the rationale you added to the file's page and would've tagged it for review inatead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:51, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly, then can anyone find a Ray Combs image that can be used on the Family Feud article without problems? OWaunTon (talk) 22:00, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- If someone is able to find/create a free equivalent photo of Combs (i.e., one that need not be treated as non-free content and meets c:COM:L), then it would make the current non-free image of him "replaceable non-free use" and no longer needed. Such an image of Combs wouldn't be subject to Wikipedia's non-free content use policy and the above-mentioned additional restrictions. Such an image, though, would be pretty hard to find given when Combs hosted the show. US copyright law (which would matter here) changed in 1989 and pretty much every photo taken on or after March 1, 1989, became eligible for copyright protection from the moment it was created without any need for copyright formalities under the new law; so, it would mean either finding a photo taken before 1989 that is no longer or never was eligible for copyright protection under US copyright law for some reason or finding one taken after March 1, 1989, whose copyright holder has released the photo under an acceptable free license. All of the other photos of the hosts are either public domain photos or released by their copyright holders under an acceptable free license, and thus are subject to the same non-free content use restrictions that the Combs one is. FWIW, those "free" photos actually don't need to be used twice in the same article, but that's more of an encyclopedic matter, not a non-free content use policy one. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:20, 3 October 2026 (UTC)

The article WZIE has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The station went on the air in 2024 and is unlikely to meet the WP:GNG. A search did not find any articles contributing to notability. Coverage is of a passing nature only. Redirect to state list.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 19:42, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- So, you suggested making it a redirect, @Sammi Brie? OWaunTon (talk) 19:44, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what should probably happen. There just isn't the coverage and press to sustain articles on stations that are new in most cases. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 19:50, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, because I also tried to search extensively for sources to pretty much no avail. OWaunTon (talk) 19:52, 21 October 2026 (UTC)

On naming the country in short descriptions of American radio stations
[edit]Hi, just following up on your edit summary comment that "It isn't common to add the country name after the city and state.". outside of naming the country being what is instructed in the WP:SDEXAMPLES section on Locations, it is in fact common. for example, using the List of radio stations in Kentucky's list of Defunct stations as a manageably countable sample, out of all the linked articles that were radio station articles, 17 named the United States as a country after stating city and state, 8 did not - this is over a 2:1 ratio. in the West Virgina defunct list respectively, 5 named the US and 3 did not. In South Carolina's defunct list, 18 named the US and 8 did not. In Mississippi's defunct list, 16 named the US and 10 did not. In Arkansas' defunct list, 20 named the US and 12 did not. this is clearly a majority practice. please stop reverting my edits. ~2026-55161-30 (talk) 22:06, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe @Sammi Brie could help me out here? OWaunTon (talk) 23:31, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @~2026-55161-30, most short descriptions in radio are inserted automatically by {{Infobox radio station}}, which does include the country. I have no objection to either form, and with Georgia it's definitely necessary to add. A lot of SDs I added at some point before the infobox was fixed to do this. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 01:04, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
- thanks for your reply. I was responding to the claim of it not being common, it wasn't specified whether that meant not commonly added manually by users or not commonly added automatically. ~2026-55161-30 (talk) 13:54, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
- and either way, reverting the addition of the country purely on the reasoning that it's "not necessary" (which goes against WP:OWN, expanded on in WP:ROWN) or not common - which isn't true - is inappropriate. ~2026-55161-30 (talk) 13:56, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
