Steam Link

Steam Link

[Solved] Unable to run Steam Link unless firewall on host is fully disabled.
I didn't like having my firewall fully disabled to use Steam Link. Under Allow apps in my firewall I had to add 'streaming_client.exe' it should be located where 'Steam.exe' is.
Now I can enable the firewall on the host and use the Steam Link.

This annoyance only happened to one of many PCs I have. Not going to debug why it has to be setup like this only on this PC but not the others, because I found the solution by adding 'streaming_client.exe'.

I just wanted to let it out there in the world if someone else is searching for a solution about this inconvenience.

ive switched network to private, and disabled firewall on it - and it doesn't solved my issue... don't want to disable firewall at all, maybe there some kind of rule that i need to create? or maybe there is a service that responds for steam link proper functioning?

one more thought - maybe i need to add TV to the trusted zone? is there some kind of setting in Defender?

UPD: Steam reinstall helped (all firewalls are on, network is private)
dont use the router to forward ports, that just breaks other stuff
Thanks a lot. This also solved the issue I had since a couple of days where the game was started on the host properly but on the client it instantly disconnected after ~5 seconds.
