Controller not working in Steamlink
Hello!

I've just set up Steam Link on my x86 Linux machine (Arch) and it loads up just fine but no button presses on my controllers are recognized.

I tried both an Xbox 360 Wired Controller and an Xbox One Wireless Controller (plugged in via USB).

I got past the initial setup by plugging in a keyboard and using that to connect Steam Link to my home PC with Steam on it.

  • Both controllers are recognized by Steam Link (green checkmark)
  • Both controllers are recognized by Linux
  • The controllers are accessible by the user running Steam Link. I verified this by running "cat /dev/input/js0" and I could see output every time I pressed buttons
  • On the launch screen of Steam Link, no button presses register. I can press all buttons, but nothing happens. Using a keyboard, I made it past this screen into Big Picture, but no buttons were recognized there as well.
  • I tried both the flatpak version as well as directly running on my system, both versions have the same issue
  • The log output of Steam Link says that it found my controller and displays its button mapping.

I am running out of ideas on how to debug this further. Anyone got any ideas?

there were something about read write privilages for controllers in few latest updates, have you checked that ? i'm not best linux user but that was important as far as i remember, check this maybe and try on linux sextion, we have here some daily linux users

best regards misi333k
Thanks for your response!

I'm pretty sure it's not a permission issue, as the user running Steam Link can successfully access and read the gamepad's device in /dev/.
I'll try any new update that comes along and will crosspost this to the Linux section.

Have a nice day
desktop, bpm, chord and each game can have different profiles for each controller
make sure they are all mapped correctly
