OG Steam Controllers not requiring dongles to connect?
I've had a Steam Link for several years now and have 4 of the original Steam Controllers plugged into the Link using their USB dongles in a 4-way USB hub (the Link only has 3 USB ports). Over time I've been used to having controllers refusing to pair randomly (usually when we've just sat down as a family to play a 4-player game!) This happened again today and we just couldn't get the 4th controller to pair - tried changing the batteries, resetting the pairing link, switching just about everything that could be off and then on again. During the course of trying everything I unplugged all the Steam Controller USB dongles but noticed that the controllers were still interacting with the Link box. They're not connected via Bluetooth (there's nothing showing up in the paired devices list) and I've not got them on wires - does the Steam Link now support some sort of direct connection to the OG Steam Controllers?

The original Steam Link always had a built-in dongle for the OG Steam Controller, yes.
