Steam Link

Steam Link

bug en steam link (chromecast)
I found a reproducible issue with Steam Link on a Chromecast with Google TV 4K.

Hardware:
- Chromecast with Google TV 4K
- RTX 4060 8 GB
- Windows PC
- Stable local network (195 Mbps measured in Steam Link network test)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Steam Link on the Chromecast.
2. Hardware decoding enabled.
3. Connect to the PC.
4. Press "Start Playing".

Result:
The Chromecast completely reboots before the Steam interface loads.

Additional findings:
- Using the original Chromecast power adapter, the reboot happens immediately after pressing "Start Playing".
- Using a 20 W USB-C charger, the Chromecast successfully enters the Steam library before rebooting.
- If hardware decoding is disabled before connecting, Steam Link starts correctly.
- Once connected, hardware decoding can be enabled again from Steam Link settings.
- The screen briefly turns green while the decoder restarts, then the image returns with better quality.
- After that, games launch and play normally without any further crashes or reboots.

This suggests that the problem occurs only during the initial hardware decoding negotiation. Once the streaming session is established, hardware decoding works correctly.

This appears to be a bug related to the initialization of hardware decoding on Chromecast with Google TV 4K.
