This will probably be more easily diagnosed over on the SteamVR forums, since it sounds like the issue is probably on the host side.

That said, taking off my Steam Link hat for a moment and putting on my SteamVR hat, you'll probably also want to have the driver_vrlink.txt (and possibly vrcompositor.txt) from the host PC. I'm assuming it's Windows, so they'd be in the "logs" directory under wherever you installed Steam -- e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\ or whatever.

Having those files will make it a lot easier to see what's happening. (And will also show whether you're on the public release or using the SteamVR beta builds or whatever.)
