Xbox Win10 controller dongle disconnects when multiple controllers are in use
I've been using the newer Win10 Xbox controller dongle for a few years now without issue.

Maybe 5-6 months ago I had enough buddies over to warrant 4 Xbox controllers, and all of a sudden all the controllers cut out. Recovered after 5 seconds, and then again after like 5-10 min it cut out again and recovered. By the third or fourth time, and after trying a couple different games, we gave up.

My buddy said it was happening to his too recently. I tried again last week when I had people over, and ran into the issue once again.

Happened on a bunch of different games, because we initially thought it was the game that was the issue. Overcooked, Tricky Towers, and other party games.

1 or 2 controllers and I never had the issue. I haven't tested with 3.

Bro, I even have one controller that sometimes loses connection with the dongle. Apparently, it only works well natively on windows. Neither the flydigi nor the Armor-X pro adapter for the xbox controller lose connection like the Microsoft dongle. PS I highly recommend the Armor-X Pro, it's a great product.
My buddy is supposing it's due to heat issues on the dongle. It does get pretty hot, and that'd make sense for over-time degradation, hence why it only started recently.
i have never had a problem using bt to the link hardware, even with 2-4 controllers

and the x360 dongle with 4 x360 controllers works with no issues

as long as you have a later gen x1 controller (with the same face plate plastic around the face buttons and xbox button) it supports bt
Oh I have the 360 adapter, never had issues with that (just the controllers themselves sometimes having the batteries wiggle loose).

Win10 Xbox One dongle worked perfectly normal until it was like, 3-5 years old I guess?
