Steamlink video freezing ONLY with Disco Elysium
Hi all,

I have an issue with my video feed freezing while using steam link (the old physical unit) but only when I play Disco Elysium.
The video will freeze but I can still hear audio and make dialouge choices with the controller.
This will happen seemingly randomly every 20 mins or so.

-Other games stream no problem and I don't encounter such an error
-I have tried the Beta and public version of the new build
-my desktop video doesn't freeze
-my desktop is wired to my router and the steamlink is in the other room on a "good" 5ghz wifi connection, I have tried 2.4ghz and the same issue persists

If anyone has some tips let me know

If you can snag the streaming_log.txt file from the PC that you were streaming it from, that'll probably help a lot.
sure! I'll give that a go
I've got a rather large txt doc,
lots of
- 4.152808] yaffs: checking block 330 bad
- EXT4-fs (loop0): couldn't mount as ext3 due to feature incompatibilities
- I/[HdmiVideo overflow (150.05ms queued), requesting keyframe synchronization

is there anything in particular I should be looking for?
thanks again
post it all on pastebin
or the summary section, or errors in the log would be helpful
Out of morbid curiosity... if you happen to have a Steam Deck, or a laptop that can run the desktop Steam Link app, or an iOS or Android phone that can run the mobile version, or... really anything that can do Steam Remote Play other than the OG Link hardware unit, do you see the same freezes if you stream Disco Elysium to that?
hmmm let me try to my phone!
Seems to work fine on my android phones steamlink app.
So why would a selction of other games work fine on the steamlink in my lounge but Disco elysium constantly freeze?!

I have a weird theory... do you have an HDMI monitor you can connect the Steam Link to? If I'm right -- and I might well not be -- then connecting it to a *monitor* instead of the TV would not freeze up.

(I'm kind of hoping I'm *not* right...)
I'll take my pc moniter through and test it out after work!

On the off-chance that works... when you plug the Link back in to your TV, go to Settings -> Display (on the Link) and disable CEC support.

To elaborate -- the only thing in that log that even remotely stands out to me is how you're getting spammed with CEC ops by the TV. HDMI CEC is what allows a TV to read the name and type of the device connected to it, or send volume up/down events, etc. The fact that your TV is basically going "HI WHAT ARE YOU? OKAY COOL! BUT ALSO HI WHAT ARE YOU? OKAY COOL! BUT ALSO HI WHAT ARE YOU?" and so on at the Steam Link over and over and over makes me wonder if that's just somehow confusing the Link to the point of "noping" out on the HDMI video stream.

Hence trying to eliminate first the TV from the equation, and then if that works, trying to disable CEC and see if that changes anything.

I cannot, for the life of me, think of a good reason why it would affect ONLY Disco Elysium, but... might as well try to eliminate this as a potential cause, I figure.

Actually, out of curiosity, what are the other games you've played that aren't affected? Because I can maybe think of *one* possible reason...
Hi all. I have the same issue playing Streets of Rage 4. Other games seem to work. I don't have CEC actived on my TV and use a yamaha av receiver between steam link and TV. When switching the HDMI port on my av-receiver and change back to the one used for steam link the picture gets refreshed but is still frozen. After 30 seconds (or so) the picture suddenly gets back in sync and I can play for some minutes.

This kind of feels like some heat problem of the hdmi port on steam link, but why would it only appear in one game... Kind of strange.

I'll analyse a bit more tomorrow.

I'd be curious what happens if you connect the Link directly to the TV (or to an HDMI monitor) just for the sake of experimentation.
Ok I directly connected to the TV and have the same issue. It now happend while in Steam. I started the game to test it and went back to steam, where the picture was frozen after some seconds. So it seems it has nothing todo with the game.
