Steam Link build 916
We've just released an update to the Steam Link firmware.

  • Improved input latency while controller rumble is happening
  • Fixed some PDP and PowerA controllers not initializing
  • Fixed Bluetooth controllers not completely disconnecting, introduced in the last build

I am still getting an issue where it gets stuck on a black screen when being woken from sleep. Started happening 2 updates ago, and requires a power cycle to fix.

By "two updates ago" do you mean it started on 910 (e.g. it happens on 910 and 915, and then also the beta build) but did not happen on 909, or do you mean it started on 915 (e.g. the current public build) and is still in place on the beta build, but was not there on 910?

If you're uncertain, you should be able to roll back to 910 (or 909) and test. Either way, it helps to narrow down what might have caused it.
I seem to have a regression in ps3 dual shock controller pairing. It works via cable but when I disconnect and expect wireless a pop up showing: "Unknown Bluetooth device is attempting to connect. Set it to discoverable mode and connect to it in the Bluetooth settings

AOK"

Shows on the connect input screen.

I'm not 100% certain which build it caused. I can help debug.

I use the dual shock to play or reliably wake the link then connect dual sense. It's always been 100% stable unlike the dual sense.

I'd be very curious whether reverting to 910 causes the bug to vanish or not; there were some significant underlying Bluetooth changes in 915. Both to the underlying Bluetooth layer in the Linux image (to fix some Bluetooth audio problems) and to the Bluetooth connection logic in the shell.

So if the bug is entirely gone under 910 and only present under 915/916, that says it's probably a regression as part of those changes -- I did test with the DualShock when making those changes, but I was using a PS4 DualShock, not a PS3 one.

If the issue still happens in 910, though, that means it's a separate issue from the Bluetooth changes in 915.
I'm now having issues streaming the desktop via steam link on this build. Won't connect the steam controller and just hangs at the initial connection screen, the intro won't display and has choppy audio. Same symptoms as when build 910 dropped. Then it was fixed a build or 2 after that.

On the host machine everything is running as it should though and I can use the controller normally. It just won't stream to the TV correctly because it can't connect to the controller.

FWIW, the builds since 910 have been:

910 (public)
912 (beta only)
915 (public)
916 (public)

915 is where Bluetooth audio got the rework to help with the crackling/popping/stuttering.
Must be a network thing on my end because it magically fixed itself last time. I did try so many things, rolling back versions, beta builds, factory resets, router off/on, etc

Just started working after giving up for days. Maybe the same thing will happen?
my link is wired to network, sometimes it will turn on to the wifi connect screen, and then detect its on wired lan and then show the main menu

It started for me on 910 and has not worked since. I was hoping it was related to the Bluetooth controller not disconnecting issue, because that's how I wake the device.
Out of curiosity, if you connect it to something else (monitor rather than TV, etc.) does it still happen? Or does the controller still show as connected / if you click while the screen is black does your computer start streaming?

Just curious if it's actually freezing on startup, or if something is happening that makes the video signal appear dead.
iPad A16 when streaming under the exact same conditions as to my iPhone; I am unable to select any of the touch screen control UI or else the top of the screen turns into a glitchy purple static that doesn’t go away. This doesn’t occur on my iPhone.

FWIW, this will be easier to track and investigate if you post it in the dedicated iOS/Apple TV discussion section; build 916 is specifically a firmware image for the original Link, the actual little dedicated hardware box you connect to a TV.

("General Discussion" is a bit of a misnomer at this point; it dates back to when the hardware Link was the ONLY Steam Link, before there were Android and iOS and desktop versions of it. So you had "General Discussion" distinct from "Native Apps" where installing homebrew extensions to the Link got discussed.)
I'm having the same disconnection issues this update, after working flawlessly for many many months.
1-2 minutes and the app just freezes/disconnects despite very good home internet and no issues before.
Running on Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+
