Opinions of performance of Steam Link on FireTV
Hello!

My PC is in the bedroom and is connected via Ethernet cable to the internet and I want to play games in my TV in the living room to spend more time with my wife.

I have a Fire TV Stick 4K Max and I would like some opinions. If I buy one of those Ethernet adapters for it, will the connection be good?

I tried playing today and although most of the time it was very good, some times, and I believe it was due to the wireless connection, the game froze and took some time to get back. And I believe it was the connection because I went back to where the PC is and the controller was moving the characters one the game, it was working fine but on the TV with the steam link nothing was moving.

Considering this, will I have a more stable and seamless experience if I buy the Ethernet adapter? I have 1Gbps down and 500 up net speeds

if streaming on the same network, internet upload/download makes no difference

if streaming from a device on a different lan, then remote play will use internet relays, and upload at host and download at client locations
30-50mb/s is needed for a quality 1080p stream, or around or around 75-100mb/s for 4k

check the fire sticks wifi connection, that will be its limiting factor
FWIW, this probably could go in the Android subforum (since the Amazon client is fundamentally the same as the Android one, just packaged slightly differently); folks there might have more direct experience to share.

That said, I'd be very curious what your experience with the Fire TV Stick 4K's ethernet adapter is -- I haven't used that one, so I have no personal opinion on it, but I *do* like collecting data points about what hardware works (and, perhaps more importantly, which doesn't).
and amazon apps are years behind the android versions
if you can sideload the apk from the android version on the stick do that

I just bought one that reaches 1Gbps. When it arrives I’ll update you.
