A new Steam link Ui idea
I was thinking for the Steam Link stand alone app it could be updated to have its own big picture mode to wear it connects to your computer automatically, and it can act like a stream or remote download and if it’s not connected or even if it is connected you would still be able to like watch live streams from Steam broadcast and chat with your friends and check the store it would just download to your device remotely

I think that would be a good unifying change for the Steam Link plus when you’re in a game, you could just have a similar menu to the steam deck where you can add exit stream and stuff like that but I wonder what everybody else thinks

the steam mobile app can do most of that
buy games and tell your pc to install them
and chat with friends

the steam link is just to remote play/control the host pc

I know I was just thinking that the app could use an interface update especially the Steam Link app for TVs

And to further add they haven’t really updated the UX design for the Steam Link app and it still looks like it fits more in line with steam OS 2.0 so I’m thinking that’s a very least do that

My understanding is that the two apps are intentionally kept separate because of agreements with Apple (and possibly Google) that allow them to continue to be available in their app store without having to give a cut of game sales. The Steam app can buy games, but not games that can be run on a phone, and the Steam Link app can play games but can't be used directly to purchase them.

It's a small barrier between the two services, but apparently one that is enough to keep all parties involved content for the moment.

Yeah, well it would still be a remote play app like ps remote play but with more of a steam deck interface but you still stream the games from your computer or steam deck
