are you using your own router, or the school/dorms router?

schools like to have lan isolation enabled, so networked devices cannot see or talk to each other directly
they also like to block some gaming ports

you can get around isolation by using your own router
but to get around the dorm blocking ports, you will need to talk with a network admin, and have them allow ports for remote play
