Steam Link / Remote Play on Nobara Linux
Dear Community,
I am using Steam since decades and I regulary used steamlink to play from remote locations.

But I cant get it work properly on my gaming pc (Nobara, Host), I struggle with several issues, such as a screen sharing window which pops up sometimes I connect with my steam link client (Raspberry Pi, iPhone or Debian .deb).

Everything works very fine after I confirm the screen sharing manually on my gaming pc (Host) and when I keep the display/monitor activated. I think I am not the only one on linux who likes to use steam link?

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you very much, M

are you using steam link app for linux, or steam desktop for linux?

can you stream to a phone or other device?
The permissions dialog you're mentioning is PipeWire. It is required if you're running Wayland as your windowing environment, because Wayland -- by design -- does not allow things to capture the desktop.

The dialog actually pops up when you first start Steam (to let you get it out of the way quickly), but as *Steam* doesn't create the window (your Linux desktop environment does), the PipeWire permission window has an unfortunate tendency to pop up and then immediately be hidden by the Steam window as it opens.

It's the same as the "<X> wants to record your screen" permission prompt on macOS (except that macOS remembers the permission afterwards).
Thank you both for your responses. I managed now to work everything with CachyOS and SteamLink. Unfortunately it only works when the Display is connected. I dont need to be powered on, but connected to the computer and to the power socket. Do you have any clue what this could be? I used Windows 11 for many years before without any problem with
steam link.
I use Steam Link Client on iOS, Debian and Raspbian. Same problem on all platforms.
steam client needs a display to clone
you can get a hdmi splitter and a hdmi fake display to run it headless

ex.
HDMI Dummy Plug 4K

Perfect, this did it. Thank you so much! :steamhappy:
