Steam controller 2 - issues over steam link (hardware and over app)
I’ve got an old steam link console device that I’m trying to use the new steam controller 2 on, when connected via dongle i get no input and when attempting to connect over Bluetooth it fails to connect.

I’ve also tried steam link on my iPad, the controller connects and detects fine on the iPad steam link app, i can navigate menus and open a game to stream to the iPad but once the game is open no input is received through to the game at all. Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

The new Controller requires a Bluetooth feature called data length extensions; the OG Link is so old it cannot support DLE, so the Controller cannot be used by Bluetooth there. The puck *should* work; it's the intended method for using it with the original Link.

As for the fact that it isn't working (and you're having trouble with the iPad), it'll probably be easier to see if something obvious is going wrong if you share your streaming_log.txt file.
When you say Dongle, are you referring to the Puck? As you need to use that with the SC2. The SC2 works on my Steam Link. I'd suggest opting into the Beta on the Steam Link and making sure you have updated the firmware on the Puck and Steam Controller.
There is an issue with turning off the Steam Link with the SC2 but other than that it is working fine for me.
Just as a side question, since I forgot to ask this earlier -- when you try to connect the puck to the Link, are you plugging it into the *side* USB port, or one of the *rear* ones? The side port has proven to sometimes be flaky on some units after all these years, but the back ports should still work fine.
I'm using the puck and I've tried both USB on the side and the USB on the back, same issues. I'll upload the stream txt file when I get a chance tomorrow. Cheers for the suggestions.
Definitely a strange one. What happens if you plug the controiller in directly to the Steam Link? Make sure to use the included USB cable. I've read a few people having issues with the OG controller because they didn't realise they were using a power only usb cable.
The issues I've mentioned above have all been resolved via the latest firmware updates. Great work steam. Only issue now is the inability of the steam link to pass through two steam controllers at the same time. The controllers effectively become linked and input is on one controller interface

Huh... I hadn't heard a report of that one yet. Good to know, I'll have to test later this week.
OK so more information. I've found there's a conflict between the old xbox one dongle which makes it so u can't run an xbox controller via that dongle at that same time as a steam controller on the puck (using wireless) the solution seems to be unplug the puck and plug the steam controller in via wired connection. Then all controllers connect happily. I've also found if u don't leave the new steam controller plugged in via wired then eventually after the time put period the xbox controllers all disconnected. If u leave the steam Controller plugged in everything plays along happily forever.
