Steam Link

Steam Link

Possible to create an application to send keystrokes to Steam client?
I've posted a similar question in the General Discussion area, but I'm wondering if Steam Link (SteamOS) supports IP-based remote control. If not, is it possible to create a 'native app' that would listen on a specific port for commands and then translate them into keyboard presses?

For example, my remote control could send 'UP' and it would simulate an arrow-key pressed.

The goal is to use my IP-based physical remote control to control my Steam Link and then use my X-Box One Wireless controller (directly plugged into my main PC) for gaming.

You can start a stream and then use the controller connected to the PC to control the game.

Was that your question? I'm not sure tbh.
Thanks, but how do I start the stream?

I need a wired controller (or Bluetooth) that is compatible with the Steam Link or a USB keyboard. I'm hoping to send IP commands to the Steam Link so I don't need either of those.

You have to initiate the Stream from the PC.

You may want to consider just getting a long HDMI cable, though.
I'm not sure what you mean. You initiate the stream from the Steam Link and it streams from the PC.
>THIS< so freaking much.

== ill try to explain the issue further: ==
* SteamLink (currently) CAN'T start streaming without a input coming FROM SteamLink.

*ie: if you have no controller plugged directly into steam link, you cant stream.

* result: if your setup have all your controllers plugged on the HOST PC, you WILL NEED to hook a keybord for literally >>just 2 keypresses<<: Enter (1x) to wake up SteamLink and then Enter(1x) to connect SteamLink to HOST PC.

== what OP is asking: ==

A way to make SteamLink accept inputs from other devices, like his IP-based remote control.

My setup is very similar so i would freaking love to ditch the barelly useless full keyboard in favor of starting my steamlink stream from my phone
I try to achive the same thing. Any news on this? I tried to send a WakeOnLan package to the steam Link to turn it on. But it doesn’t work :steamsad:
