Feature Request: Steam Link for LG webOS TVs — How Can We Get Valve’s Attention?
Hi everyone,

I would love to see an official Steam Link app for LG Smart TVs running webOS, and I’m wondering how we can get Valve to take notice of this request.

I own an LG OLED65C46LA (2024 OLED TV) and would love to stream my Steam library directly from my PC to my TV without needing additional hardware or dealing with compatibility issues.

I already own an Apple TV and use Steam Link on it, but the experience isn’t always reliable. Controller recognition and compatibility vary from game to game. Some games work perfectly, while others have problems with button mapping, analog sticks, or other inputs.

Another limitation is controller compatibility. To get the best compatibility with Apple TV, you generally need a controller supported by Apple’s platform. This limits the freedom to use the controller you actually prefer, even when that controller works perfectly on your PC.

An official Steam Link app for LG webOS could provide a more convenient alternative for people who want to stream their PC games directly to their TV, using compatible controllers without having to rely on an additional streaming device.

LG OLED TVs are excellent for gaming, with 4K OLED displays, high refresh rates, low input lag, and HDMI 2.1 support. It seems like a natural fit for Steam Link.

I’ve also noticed that many people on Reddit and other gaming communities have been requesting Steam Link support for LG webOS TVs. There seems to be genuine demand, but I haven’t found a clear way to get this request in front of Valve.

I’d like to ask the community two questions:

1. Is there an official way to submit a feature request to Valve? Steam Support doesn’t seem to allow me to create a topic for this.
2. How can we collectively get Valve’s attention? Would a dedicated feature-request thread, a community poll, or a coordinated campaign be effective?

I understand there are alternatives, such as Apple TV, Android TV devices, and HDMI connections, but none offers quite the same convenience as a native Steam Link app built for LG webOS.

If you would also like to see Steam Link on LG TVs, please share your thoughts below. If you know of existing requests, discussions, or ways to reach the Steam Link developers, please share those as well.

Perhaps we can gather enough support to demonstrate that this is a feature worth considering.

Honestly, it also feels a bit unfair that other TV platforms have native Steam Link support while LG webOS users are left out. 😅 LG OLED TVs are among the most popular choices for gaming, so it seems strange that we still don’t have the same option. We shouldn’t have to buy an additional streaming device just to get functionality that is already available on other TV platforms.

Technically speaking there already is a steam link client, you just gotta root your TV or put it in developer mode to install it :P
Check out https://cani.rootmy.tv/?q=OLED65C46LA, check your firmware and install the homebrew store.

It's not official or anything, but it's something. I've also never tried it myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just assumed most TVs are too slow to handle the stream decoding (I'm pretty sure mine would be for example, it's notoriously weak lol)
