VAAPI should work, can you provide streaming_log.txt from the Steam logs directory on the host computer?

I give it try within the next days. Where should i place the log ?

VA-API video decode should be working, VA-API video encode has been missing and was reported a while ago at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/4890 .

That is an issue with the host system side of streaming and not an issue with the Steam Link application because Steam Link can't be a stream source.

I have taken a look at the logfile and found the following line:

"CaptureDescriptionID" "Desktop OpenGL NV12 + libx264 main (4 threads)"

That means that software videoencoding is used on the streaming host. VAAPI is not active here. If i stream to my linux notebook VAAPI is used on the clientside for videodecoding. The option in the hostsettings to use AMD GPU for streaming seems not doing anything. To rely on softwareencoding is ok for systems with a highend cpu that are connected by a wired connection. However since i need to use a WLAN with several repeaters my connection is not that perfromant or stable. I had a decent streamingperformance with my old Nvidia GPU which was using NVENC for videoencoding with steam remoteplay. The only thing that changed is that i now use an AMD GPU and for that reason hardwareencoding is not available for me anymore.

Where should i place the logfile ?

Ah, thank you for clarifying. VAAPI is not supported for encoding on the host at this time.
