Upgrading MacOS Host from Sonoma (10.14) to Sequoia (10.15) broke Dualsense controller support for several unity games when streaming to SteamLink on Android
Hi! Until recently, I had a great streaming experience when using SteamLink to stream from my MacOS host to my GoogleTV/Android client when using a Dualsense controller connected to the Android client.

Unfortunately, when I updated the host OS from Sonoma (10.14) to Sequoia (10.15) several games stopped detecting controller input entirely, and extensive troubleshooting hasn't been able to fix the issue.

Post host OS upgrade - the DualSense controller still works to control the Steam BigPicture UI, and it works as normal in several other games However, no controller inputs are detected by several of my favorite games...all of which use the Unity engine

Here are some details of my system

Laptop/Steam link host:
-MacOS 15.1.1 Sierra
-16 inch MacBook Pro
-Steam update to latest available
-Steam Beta Branch: 1732746274 (also tried latest stable with no change)

Controller:
-DualSense, upgraded to latest available firmware A-0520

Google TV / Steam link client
-TCL 65" QM8 (65QM850G)
-Android 11 (latest available)
-latest available Steam Link Client app 1.3.12.278 (opted into Beta, but no beta update available)

Games experiencing this issue:
-A Short Hike
-Dave the Diver
-Kentucky Route Zero

Games not experiencing this issue/working normally:
-Celeste
-Fez
-Life is Strange

Symptoms:
-If controller connected directly to MacOS laptop via bluetooth, it's properly detected as a playstation controller and works well in all the games in both categories above
-if controller connected to google TV via bluetooth and using steamlink i can use the controller to control the Steam UI, access the steam overlay, but not to play games listed under "games experiencing this issue" (games listed under 'not experiencing this issue' work normally)
-i've tried setting steam input to default/enabled/disabled for these games with no changes.
-to rule out something specific to the TV, i tried the steamlink app on my google pixel phone running Android 15 with controller connected via bluetooth and I have the same symptoms (controller works in steam UI, but not in the games listed).
-when streaming to the android phone, the touch controller also does not work in the games listed.

interesting log lines in player.log for "A Short Hike"
"Couldn't parse HID descriptor with fast parser. Using fallback"

I did find this forum post mentioning the same issue https://discussions.unity.com/t/xbox-controller-not-working-on-macos/932929/8 for Unity, which made me suspect this was specific to unity games. However the fix suggested there of adding steam and the impacted games to the "allow to monitor input" in the Mac System preferences did not help

Are there any debug options I can use to figure this out?

I believe I'm having the same problem. I can't get any controller to work via Steam Link on my iPhone with Steam running on my Mac, including the built-in touch controller, in games such as A Short Hike and Dave the Diver. Works fine in other games like Untitled Goose Game.

Did you get anywhere?
Is this resolved in any way?
