Steam Link

No audio when streaming
When streaming there is no audio at all, I tried streaming to 2 TVs and my phone, there was no audio on all the devices, I tried all the solutions I was able to find (Note that a year ago before I upgraded to Windows 11 the audio played normally) here's what I tried :

Full Steam reinstall

Reinstalled Steam audio drivers

Switched to beta and reswitched to normal

Updated Motherboard audio drivers (Realtek)

Disabled play audio on host

Tested Steam Audio Speakers and confirmed green bars

Uninstalled Fxsound and APO equalizer

Checked that volume was 100% in Steam Link

If there's any other fix I haven't tried please tell me

If you bring up the overlay (holding Escape on a keyboard, or the Select/View button on a controller) and check the volume there, it isn't showing as muted or anything similar?

If you have a laptop (or, really, any computer other than the one you're streaming from) are you able to install the Steam Link desktop app there and check if things work?

Drat. I was hoping to see whether your audio issues were specific to the *Android* app, or if they turned up in macOS/Windows/Linux/whatever.

Can you grab the logs\streaming_log.txt from your Steam install directory on the machine you're streaming from, and then stick it on Pastebin or somewhere? That should at least contain information on what it's trying to do for the audio streaming.

Its too big for pastebin so here's the file in google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kBy9vrVCkKPEUhDhLAFNDY1JPWi9uHTv/view?usp=sharing

Well, the good news is the log says what's happening! And it isn't the Android client breaking!

[2026-02-14 20:54:31][322.800602] Initializing audio with 2 channels and 48000 samples/sec [2026-02-14 20:54:31][322.813730] Audio recording init failed, couldn't initialize the audio client loopback: 0x80070057 [2026-02-14 20:54:31][322.813870] Failed to init system audio recording: 1

The bad news, unfortunately, is that it's worse than the Android client breaking; for some reason, your computer is unable to initialize the audio capture, so there's no audio being *sent* to the streaming client... :|

Thanks for the info ! Now I have to see if there's any way to fix it
Any suggestions ?

I'm gonna be honest, I don't know the host side of the code terribly well. Not well enough to reel off advice on a weekend, at any rate.

THAT SAID, 0x80070057 is a fairly standard Windows error code usually meaning "incorrect parameter" -- it has a tendency to crop up in various bits of Windows code when there's a permissions error or driver corruption of some sort.

You've already tried reinstalling Steam's audio drivers and a bunch of the other first-steps I'd go with, so all I can think of off the top of my head is the "permissions error" part of that -- I don't *actually* expect that this will work, but if you quit Steam and then manually run it as an administrator and then try streaming from it, does the audio work?

No it doesn't

Alas. It was a long shot and, as I said, I didn't really expect it to work... but it would've been *nice* if it had. :P
