Ultrawide host, widescreen client problem
How do I set steam link (the linux app, not the hardware) up so that the resolution of the host automatically rescales from ultrawide to widescreen when connected to the client? It is really annoying, and the sides get cut off b/c of it not rescaling properly.

You have to change the options on the host.
Go to the Steam menu and select Settings.
Navigate to the Remote Play category and click the Advanced host options button.
Check "Change desktop resolution to match streaming client", click OK then OK again.

The host resolution is controlled by the host Steam client.

Thanks for the response, but that option kind of breaks it more for me, because then the steam link display gets way off center for some reason, and you can only really see the very top left corner

Actually nevermind with or without the option the screen is shifted way down

oh actually nevermind i solved that problem myself - turns out the ethernet was not plugged in on my client which meant that the picture was just not sending properly; after plugging it in all of the problems got fixed
