raspberrypi steamlink downgrade
How does one downgrade steamlink? I used to run old steamlink version where streaming was working no issues. However after upgrading to newest one (reinstall), I'm having big issues with streaming. I'm getting constant dropouts in menu screen and whole steamlink crashes after few minutes

And yeah, it's not the network. I need a way to downgrade. I used to run version before and nice HUD infos about controller shortcuts etc

This only describes howto downgrade for steamlink hardware itself https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3966-EFLV-7805

I've currently tested this new steamlink version on raspberrypi3 and raspberrypi4 and they both have the same streaming issue. Old version didn't have any issues in the same network.

Thanks. Is there full list of available binaries somewhere? Already downgraded to steamlink-rpi3-1.1.44.103.tar.gz which solves the issue with streaming and crashes but would like to find out where this started.. Also those new quick shortcuts with gamepad to use mouse were quite nice and not available in old versions obviously

Slouken maybe?
Also regarding the autostart in raspberrypi3, how is it handled now when steamlink is installed from stretch repo? I used to have my own service starting it but now it looks like it is automated and I don't know from where it's being autolaunched on boot. Need to add that --skip-update for autostart too
Ok, turns out it was indeed me and not the installer who placed the autostart long time ago. Just didn't remember I had for some reason crontab set

Anyways solution (for raspberrypi3 streatch) is to create systemd service with --skip-update

  • sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/steamlink.service

[Unit] Description=Steamlink Service [Service] Type=simple User=pi ExecStart=/usr/bin/steamlink --skip-update Restart=on-failure [Install] WantedBy=graphical.target

  • sudo systemctl daemon-reload
  • sudo systemctl enable steamlink.service
  • sudo systemctl start steamlink.service

Didn't do this for my raspberrypi4 but remembering systemd service did not work for this. One solution from here should work https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/6/1642042464752247649/ as mentioned by Xenophobe
