Steam Link forces wrong resolution - happened over night
Hi,

I've used a Steam Link setup with my Raspberry Pi for the last year or two and it's been working brilliant so far, until today. Yesterday I was playing as normal, but today when booting up my Raspberry Pi and launching Steam Link, Steam Link forces a 720p resolution instead of a 1080p when going into Big Picture Mode. It looks good in the Steam Link RPi boot screen, but when connecting to my PC/launching the Big Picture Mode the low res graphics kicks in. When launching a game, there is black borders at the bottom and at the top of both my PC monitor and TV. The Pi forces my PC monitor to 1024x768 all of a sudden. However, I am able to manually change my computer monitor resolution back to 1080, but this doesn't really help on my TV/Raspberry Pi. The black borders become even more evident.

I didn't change any settings in relation to this to happening. I'm wondering if I accidently updated the Steam Link app on my Raspberry Pi or updated the Steam app on my PC, but I don't think I did.. The RPi Steam Link version is 1.2.0.241 and this seems to have been out for a while. In Remote Play settings in steam, the advanced option for "Change desktop resolution to match streaming client" is ticked and always has been. I've tried both with and without, but it doesn't really change anything.

Anyone have any idea how this could happen over night? Anyone else experiencing it as of today? How can I trouble shoot the problem?

Best regards,

Don't know if it is related, probably not, but the sound on my RPi also stopped working over night. I fixed that issue however with "sudo apt -y purge "pulseaudio"".
FYI, the resolution is set to 1920x1080 wherever possible, including:

Remote play - display - target resolution

Remote play - advanced client settings - limit resolution to

In the steam link app settings before connecting to pc

PC Monitor

The TV supports 1080p.
