Steam Link

Running steamlink via docker
Hello everyone!

I've tried looking up for ways to run steamlink on raspbian buster under docker, with close to zero success: some reported of having it working until a few years ago when it broke up, while others just mention being willing to give docker a try just to go radio slient.

I've tried to do some testing myself and set up a repo[github.com] with what I came up with. I'm this close to actually have it working, but I've never played with docker before so I'm probably missing something that may be obvious for someone else: the image builds, steamlink starts and it is run as a non-root user, all the configuration folders (2 in .local and 1 in .config) are mounted as volumes so no data is left behind, the main window opens up and I can get it to pair up with a Steam client on another PC! But then the stream won't start, audio is most likely broken, and I have no idea what to do now. For the record, this all has been tested on archarm (or arch linux arm, or alarm, or astolfo or however you want to call it).

So, what I'm asking is: did anyone actually manage to get it to work under docker? Does anyone actually have it working under docker right now? Does anybody care to help with this? Or is it just not possible at all (in this case I'd love a sorta in-depth answer)?

To add some extra context: I've been running Raspbian Buster for a very long while now, but I'd really like to have an up-to-date OS so I can also have other updated apps on it, along with security fixes. I'm aware I could just keep an sd card with raspbian buster + steamlink to play and one with another distro, but for ease of use I'd rather to just keep it all together... Also, this sounded like a great way to finally force myself to learn some docker.
