Steam Link

Steam Link

Left stick moves mouse with xbox one joystick
When i use the xbox one controller with bluetooth, the left stick moves the mouse cursor super fast, with desktop bindings deactivated.
It behaves like this even during big picture menus.

In games with mouse movement it is simply unplayable.

If i connect the controler via usb, it works fine.

Any ideas, or is this a steamlink bug?

I have this same exact issue and am working on it. I'll report back if I find the cause.
What model is your controller?
- You can find this in the battery compartment.

What firmware version is your controller?
- You can find this by starting the Xbox Accessories app on Windows.
My controller is an Xbox One S Controller, model 1708.
Firmware version is 4.8.1923.0.
I noticed that the mouse movement only happens when i barely move the left stick. When is use wide movements, it doesn't detect the movement.

Thanks for answering!

How are you connecting it? When I try using the Bluetooth menu, I get:
Connection failed - GDBus.Error.org.bluez.Error.Failed: Input/output error
I modified a file to disable ertm.
Here are the instructions:

Create a new file using nano...
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf

Add a single line to the new file...
options bluetooth disable_ertm=Y

Exit nano, saving the file in the process.
Thanks, I was able to pair an Xbox controller of the same model and the same firmware to my Raspberry Pi 4, and I'm not seeing any mouse motion caused by the controller.

Can you post a link to the controller.txt and controller_ui.txt files from the Steam logs folder on your computer?
Sure, here are the logs:
https://pastebin.com/9UzjjFZw
https://pastebin.com/eMRCxDYw

I am using a raspberry pi 3. Maybe that's the difference that causes the issue.
I installed pixel desktop on my retropie and launched steamlink after going into desktop.
When im in the desktop it works flawlessly.

It generates this problem when i launch it from emulationstation and directly from the commandline

What version of OS are you using?
What is the output of cat /etc/os-release?
Are you fully up to date?
Here is the content from /etc/os-release:

PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="9"
VERSION="9 (stretch)"
ID=raspbian

I'm using the retropie image which installs raspbian, emulationstation and a bunch of emulation software.
So I updated my retropie image to the latest version as of today, but I can't pair using the retropie bluetooth menu. I went ahead and paired manually using the instructions on this page:
https://www.thegeekpub.com/16265/using-xbox-one-controllers-on-a-raspberry-pi/

This connected, and the controller works with Steam Link, but it doesn't work on the retropie menus and there's still no mouse motion.

I looked at that page above and noticed it has instructions for running xboxdrv to emulate a mouse, and the mapping sounds like what you're seeing. Are you running xboxdrv?

Today's retropie update seems to have broken my setup in other ways - I have to log into the console in order for emulationstation to start, and my older firmware wired Xbox controller no longer works with the kernel driver they installed. So, if you can't figure it out, maybe the best way for me to reproduce it is for you to upload an SD-card image copy of your install, and I can burn it and test here?
I'm not using xboxdrv as far as i know, it doesn't work with the bluetooth mode.

The SD image i'm afraid it is a bit hard to upload because it contains a lot of media data that have a bif size.

I'll send you the image i originally burnt as sopn as possible.

Meanwhile, do you know how to check if the os driver is generating the fake mouse events or the steamlink transmission?

I just checked and the device associated with the joystick is /dev/inout/js0 and its drivers are:
hid-generic
uart-pl011

I imagine if you alt-tab away from the Steam Link app, and the controller still moves the mouse, then it's on the OS side, otherwise it would seem to be in the streaming transmission. However, the only mouse emulation we do is when you turn on mouse mode with the controller overlay. If you're not using that, I'm not sure how mouse motion could happen.
The problem is that when i launch it from the desktop it doesnt have this behaviour. It only does this when running it directly from the commandline.

Mouse mode is deactivated in the controller overlay. When i activate it, it moves the mouse properly with the right stick.

edit: Here is the retropie image i used:

Hi,

I'm having the same issue with OSMC that was installed with NOOBS.

When I connect my XBox controller with the USB cable, it works perfectly. Using the OSMC interface and the SteamLink connection screen in wireless mode also works well.

Once connected with the remote computer the issue pops up.

I tried using xpadneo (https://atar-axis.github.io/xpadneo/) but it didn't seem to affect the issue.

Here is my os-release
