Steamlink on rpi 5 keeps crashing after 1.3.18 Update
Since the 1.3.18 Update my steamlink installation on an freshly installed rpi 5 keeps crashing with ffmpeg asserts after a few minutes of running a stream. A day before the update (5th Sep) this worked flawlessly for several hours of streaming.

Some truncated logs of the different tries:

This is happening to me too
Same here. I literally went a year without a single issue prior to this patch. Now steamlink regularly crashes/completely freezes even when the game is still running on the computer
Yeah same is happening to me as well.
Same here.
And same here.
Update: Switching from Wayland to X11 seems to fix the crashes.
Same. You should have seen the look of dread on my face when I booted it up yesterday and saw it auto-updating. Like "oops, I thought I gutted that out of the bash script, this better not break we've been on the most stable release in years".... ♥♥♥♥.

3 times in a row, 3 hard crashes within 5 minutes.
Is there a workaround? Or just wait for the next update?

My workaround is jumping ship to Moonlight/Sunshine. I'm getting decent framerates at 10 Mbps at 720p and 60 fps framerate set to HEVC. At this point it's not worth waiting for Valve to get its act together regarding Pi Steam Links. It is strange that the streaming software made by fans for free is currently working and the streaming software by the multibillion dollar company isn't but that's how it is.
I was using it for 2k@60 streaming, so from what you say Moonlight/Sunshine isn't enough for me :<
I wish that valve make steam link for RPI open sourced, like they did with Steam Audio spatializer

I'm only on those specs because of a standard rental router and a wifi network. If you have things on wired you should be able to to 4k@60 for moonlight I believe.

Also my workaround at the moment. Or - to be more precise - replacement. Moonlight/Sunshine is more stable, especially at WQHD and beyond. The encoding quality is also much better, which results in less compression artifacts while streaming. Also noticed that SteamLink still limits its throughput to 100 mbps. Technically it is enough for 4k@60, but results in lower quality due to higher compression. Moonlight can go far beyond that limitation.
Steam Link for RPI has a small user base compared to other platforms, especially due to the additional hardware requirement. Most users use steam link on Android (which you can also see on the amount of forum posts). So most of the development resources and support go there. If you only have, like, 1-2 developers for steam link then smaller platforms go under.

Works if you can get ~100 mbps of wired throughput between client and server. The more, the better as Moonlight adapts the stream compression ratio to the set max bandwith.
Can anyone get a core dump of this crash? I'm not seeing it here.

Where would you even look for this, on the PI or on the PC? especially when it doesn't generate any error prompts on either end
