Huge lag on AppleTV 4K but ok on iPad Air 2
Hi,

I've tried streaming from the same computer (Google Cloud VM), while the iPad Air 2 is working quite fine (no real annoying lag even in racing games), there is almost 1 sec of lag while using the aTV! What's even weirder is that the aTV is connected to the gigabit network while the iPad is on WiFi. I've tried with HEVC too and same result (iPad Air is H264 only). Currently I'm plugging my iPad to my projector to play on it but what a shame to use it when the aTV is already there ready to play :(

Is it input lag you are noticing? Check your tv to see if it has a “game mode” of some sort.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I'm actually a projector and it was setup to the same mode (gaming FWIW) in. both cases (aTV and iPad). I don't really understand what's wrong as for me the aTV should have better perf than iPad (since it's using H265 and wired). It does feel like input lag though.

Enable the performance overlay and see what it reports

Same problem here still in 2024. Apple TV 4K with ethernet has input lag while my iPad Air on wifi works perfectly. The irony …
