same happened to me today after i update the steam link app, as asoon s thunderbolt external display is connected, the ps5 controller stops working

I’m experiencing what looks like exactly the same issue.

Symptoms:

My Bluetooth controller is recognized by Steam Link and works fine in the app menus.
As soon as streaming starts, controller input stops being received. The app still shows the controller as connected.
This happens in Big Picture mode and when launching a game directly from the app.

Devices affected (not just one setup):

iPhone 16 Pro (Steam Link 1.4.2)
iPhone 13 Pro Max
We tried several different Bluetooth gamepads and the behavior is identical, so it doesn’t seem to be controller-specific.

Timing: Everything worked perfectly until Tuesday (Oct 13). Both of our devices broke around the same time, so I suspect a recent app or iOS update introduced a regression.


When I leave the app to the home screen and come back, input works for about one second and then stops again. It feels like something is blocking controller input to Steam Link rather than the controller disconnecting.
Input sometimes comes back if I bring up another screen (phone overlay, a system menu, etc.) and then switch back to the app.

Since this is how I play Steam most of the time, I’d really appreciate a fix soon.

I’m experiencing the exact same issue on my iPhone 13 Pro using the official Apple lightning to HDMI adapter and Steam Link 1.4.2.

My Bluetooth controller works perfectly in the Steam Link menus and controller test, but as soon as my streaming starts with HDMI connected, all controller inputs stop registering. Disconnecting HDMI restores functionality.

Hey everyone. Valve re enabled testflight for ios so now you can sign up and rollback to 1.4.0 for now. I just did and now I can use my bluetooth controller while connected to an external monitor again. 😁

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Worked once then stopped working once I stopped and started a new game.

1.4.4 is up on ios testflight. It fixes the issue.

I was trying to find the main thread for this! My iPhone 17 is having this exact issue and has since I installed 27.0.1. I'm on version 27.2 and still having the issue. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can get 1.4.4 installed.
