VirtualHere for Steam Link

VirtualHere for Steam Link

Error "Operation not permitted" (-1) trying to use this device
Hi,

I'm using a Roccat keyboard and an Evoluent mouse with my Steam Link. The keyboard is working fine with VirtualHere, but I can't get the mouse to work... every time I start streaming I get this error message:

Error "Operation not permitted" (-1) trying to use this device

I tried a simple Logitech mouse, this one is working fine as well... what could be the problem with the Evoluent mouse? It's a VerticalMouse 4.

Just in case anyone is wondering: yes, I enabled "Share Device" for the mouse.

Regards,
Christian

Ok try this, right click on the mouse in the virtualhere client (using a normal mouse :) and then select "Custom Event Handler..." then enter exactly this line below:

onReset.$VENDOR_ID$.$PRODUCT_ID$=

then press OK. that will disable the USB RESET operation which generally helps devices like this that probably need some special setup before the reset. If the reset is disabled the device usually works ok. Once thats done its remembered for all future times
Thanks a lot, I'll try this tonight and will get back to you!
Worked like a charm, thanks a lot!!! :steamhappy:

In the virtualhere client, can you right click on the Evoluent mouse and select Properties and tell me the usb vendor id, and product id. I can try to get valve to add this fix in a later steam firmware
Sorry for the delay:

Vendor: Kingsis Peripherals
Product: Evoluent VerticalMouse 4
Vendor ID: 0x1A7C
Product ID: 0x0191

Thanks a lot!
