Birkenstock’s hotly anticipated collaboration with Etro finally has a release date.
The German footwear company is set to release the first drop of its collaboration with Etro next week as part of its 1774 line, the company’s Paris-based special projects and collaborations unit.
The capsule reinterprets the Birkenstock Boston silhouette, the brand’s first closed-toe clog, originally introduced in 1976 and celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

First seen on Etro’s fall/winter 2026 runway show at Milan Fashion Week in February, the updated Boston clog is reimagined in premium suede and nappa leather and is infused with Etro’s signature codes. These details come to life through embroidered accents, long fringe, custom Western-inspired buckles and exclusive Pegasus-branded rivets.

The collection also features the Gizeh sandal, which was first introduced by Birkenstock in 1983, and is defined by long fringe that drapes over the wearer’s foot.
Each style is built around Birkenstock’s anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed and fully wrapped in tonal leather. The design extends to the outsole, where Birkenstock’s signature bone-pattern tread is paired with Etro’s iconic paisley motif. The styles will be available in a color palette of taupe and chocolate brown.
The first chapter of the Birkenstock by Etro partnership will be available globally from Sept. 10 on Etro.com and 1774.com, as well as selected Etro and Birkenstock boutiques and retail partners worldwide.
Further chapters of the collaboration will be revealed in the coming months, Birkenstock said.
This new collection comes at a time when Birkenstock’s designer collaborations are gaining a lot of attention. In August, the company released its second collection with South Korean label Ader Error on a range of updated Boston clogs.
One month earlier, Birkenstock revealed its tie-up with French shoe company Repetto. The ballet-inspired range featured the Arizona sandal, the Scala and the Opéra sabot. The range was unified by a Vichy-check gingham footbed lining — a Repetto signature motif.
And in June, Birkenstock previewed its new collaboration with Sacai at the Japanese fashion label’s spring/summer 2027 show during Paris men’s fashion week. The two footwear styles merged elements from three different Birkenstock silhouettes for a mash up of buckles on a sandal and clog silhouette.
