Nike got moving quickly after the New York Knicks wrapped up their first NBA title in 53 years, as it made a team-themed Air Force 1 Low available for preorder within the week. Delivery is still to be fulfilled for the sneakers, but it appears that those who missed out will have another chance to purchase this fall.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low ’01 “NYC” has popped back up on Nike servers, suggesting a more traditional release is now imminent. Starting with an otherwise white upper and midsole, each shoe features an orange Swoosh on the medial side and blue on the lateral. The Nike NYC logo is embroidered in the two colors on the tongue tag and mustache, as is the year 2026 in varsity script on the lateral heel. Tiny orange Swooshes sit at the U-throat, and a pixelated interior shot of Madison Square Garden during a Knicks game appears on the insole.

Adding to the shoe’s appeal is that it’s given the 2001 proportions that Nike has revived this year and have been revered by collectors. Said to be more true to how the Air Force 1 Low appeared even further back in the ’80s, the layout features a sleeker toe box, rounded heels, lower stature and more structured paneling. The quality of leather is also superior, which brings up the price moderately.
