BBC holds non-exclusive free-to-air rights to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United Kingdom, sharing coverage with ITV. Matches will be broadcast across BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC Three, with live streaming available on BBC iPlayer. Coverage is free-to-air, though only a portion of matches will air on BBC due to the shared agreement.
Viewers in the United Kingdom can watch the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 live on the BBC, which holds free-to-air rights alongside ITV. Matches are divided throughout the group stage and knockout rounds, with the two broadcasters both showing the final. The competition features 32 teams and 64 games, staged in Brazil.
The BBC has the non-exclusive broadcast rights to show live matches from Euro 2028 in the United Kingdom. The free-to-air national broadcaster is sharing the rights to the competition with fellow free-to-air provider, ITV, as has been customary for major tournaments in the United Kingdom for several decades.
The BBC provides selected live UEFA Europa League audio commentary in the UK, principally through BBC Radio 5 Live. It does not provide live video coverage of the competition.
The BBC holds live commentary rights for the English Football League (EFL) Cup in the United Kingdom. The free-to-air broadcaster does not own any visual rights for the competition, but its live commentary deal runs until the end of the 2027-28 season. The broadcaster's arrangement with the EFL includes the radio rights to up to 25 matches from the competition each season.
The BBC has retained non-exclusive FA Cup rights from 2025-26 to 2028-29 in the United Kingdom and Ireland, following a multi-year extension deal. As per its sub-licensing agreement with TNT Sports, which is owned by commercial broadcaster Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD), the BBC continues to provide free-to-air coverage of the FA Cup from the 2025-26 through the 2028-29 campaigns.
BBC Sport has extended its Women’s Super League broadcast rights in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland for the 2025-26 to 2029-30 seasons. Thanks to this five-year broadcast deal with the Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL), the public broadcaster can continue its WSL coverage on free-to-air platforms until 2030.
The BBC holds the rights to show highlights from the Scottish Premiership after agreeing a new deal with the SPFL in 2023 until the end of the 2028-29 season. The primary highlights show, which is called Sportscene, is broadcast for free on BBC Scotland each weekend with two episodes typically airing - one on Saturday night and one on Sunday night.
