How to watch Scottish Premiership in the United Kingdom

The BBC holds the rights to show highlights from the Scottish Premiership after agreeing a new deal with the SPFL in 2023 until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The primary highlights show, which is called Sportscene, is broadcast for free on BBC Scotland each weekend with two episodes typically airing - one on Saturday night and one on Sunday night.

Fans are able to live stream Sportscene on BBC iPlayer, which is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices. iPlayer is also available via a web browser. All users need a login with the BBC for streaming.

Sportscene includes match analysis from ex-players in a studio, and each match comes with English-language commentary.

Individual highlights packages for each match are also produced, and these are also uploaded to the BBC website and BBC iPlayer.

Premier Sports has the rights to show 20 matches from the Scottish Premiership in the UK and Ireland each season after striking a deal with the SPFL for five years from 2024 until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The 20 matches shown across the pay-TV’s linear sports channels are exclusive and are spread out across each season, giving fans of the Scottish Premiership the opportunity to watch matches from the competition on the majority of game weeks.

Fans must have an active subscription directly with Premier Sports to be able to access these live matches from the Scottish Premiership, with monthly and annual plans available.

Live streaming of the Scottish Premiership is available through the Premier Sports app and also through the Premier Sports channel on Amazon Prime. Both of these apps can be downloaded onto iOS and Android devices.

Premier Sports also produces highlights of each match it broadcasts live.

Sky Sports has the rights to show up to 60 Scottish Premiership matches each season after agreeing to a new seven-year deal with the SPFL in 2022 until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The deal, which is said to be worth around £150m, means that at least one match from each game week will be down on the pay-TV platform in the UK and Ireland.

The majority of Scottish Premiership matches on Sky are shown on Sky Sports Football, but the biggest matches, including those between Rangers and Celtic, are shown on Sky Sports Main Event.

Every Scottish Premiership match on Sky Sports comes with a full studio show with pre-match build-up, match analysis and interviews with players and managers. Live English language commentary is also provided.

A weekly Scottish Premiership highlights show is also shown on Sky Sports Football, while highlights from individual matches are shown for free on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel.

Live streaming of the Scottish Premiership in the UK and Ireland is available on Sky Go, the broadcaster’s streaming arm. This can be downloaded as an app for free on iOS and Android devices, but users will need a registered account with Sky and a paid subscription to use it.
